The official game list is up!

Round 1: Pac Man
Round 2: Calling All Cars
Round 3: Quake III
Round 4: Karaoke Revolution
Round 5: Puzzle Quest
Round 6: ???

Oh man, I'm really concerned about round 4.  I mean come on, Karaoke?!  Lord help us all.  Hey Thatguy, good call on the Puzzle Quest.  I'm interested in knowing how they are going to make that work multiplayer.  Any thoughts or advice out there?

I thought it was multiplayer already.  I've never played it.

If I were you, I'd be a little concerned about Karaoke Revolution.  I've played it once, but It takes a few minutes to get the hang of.  Even if you have trained to hear pitch and can read music and all that, you'll need to get the hang of portraying pitches to initially arbitrary dots on the screen.

With Pac-Man, if it's the original, you should learn whatever tricks you can perform that get the ghosts to change directions.  I believe that is very helpful, though I never learned them myself.

With Puzzle Quest, I'd go to GFAQs and see if you can't get battle advice there.  Do you know which versions you'll be playing?  It could actually be the 360 version that's slated to be released.  I'd read up on it if I were you.

If Karaoke is done the same as it was in 05 and you are just an average singer, you stand a good chance of making it through.  But luck plays a huge role there as well, as you will go head to head against another singer.. winner moves on... loser is out.  Therefore if you draw one of the best singers you are screwed, and if you draw one of the worst singers, it's a cakewalk.

I would expect that because Pac-Man isn't the final round, it is most likely Pac-Man CE for Live Arcade.

I'm calling it now, Final Round = Brawl. End of story.

You need to ask them to tell you the point they had picked out every game, including the mystery one.  If it was before they learned all of your info, I'm willing to bet it's StarCraft.

If Nintendo chooses PAX as the place to unveil the (almost) full character roster for Brawl, I will let you choose my avatar for 30 days starting the same day as PAX.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Thanks for the advice thus far.  I've talked to my friends and they are going to try and help me out.  Singing has become my new favorite past time and my roommates new torture time.  I'll see if I can't scrounge up a copy of Quake III and work on my fragging skills.

I seriously doubt that Smash in any form will be in the finals.  The past games have been: Pong, Combat, and Tetris.  I'm thinking a really old recognizable title like that or something that is of a very early SNES/Genesis era title.  Starcraft in the finals would rock though.

My friends and I are planning on handing out free swag to promote our site while at PAX.  I already got the OK from the PA guys and we are going to be handing out some cool stuff over the course of the three days.  Shy, if you catch up with me at PAX, I'll make sure you get some stuff.  That goes for anyone else who may be going.  I need a big ole' cheering section.

Well it's the first of August and PAX is closing in. Once again I ask if anyone is planning on taking the trip? Me and bosshogx will be there, isn't that reason enough to attend?

I want one of each!
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Greetings from PAX! It's a good show so far, played a number of games, and saw some previews of stuff. I watched in the first round of Omegathon, BossHogx made it through! Who new Jenga could be such a nail-biter?

I may post later with more impressions of the individual games.

And I'm back! Fun times, played a lot of demoes (see various game threads), went to some cool previews of Assassins Creed and Far Cry 2 (world premiere baby!) Saw the 1upYours live (with Luke Smith) which was cool, and I saw plenty of people who I had only seen online before (Gamejew is a tiny man)

Bosshogx was in the final eight of Omegathon last I checked, Plus he gave me vudu's swag

He was a finalist!  It's slightly up on Penny-Arcade.  He lost to Accolon(?), I think.

The final game was Halo or Halo 2, or something like that.  I wasn't too far off, then, but still my StarCraft suggestion wouldn't have helped.

Congrats!

My flight left before the final Round, but yeah, Ben made it to the last round! Halo 3 was the final game, and I believe as Runner up he automatically is entered into next years Omegathon.
