im not gonna perfectly EV my pokemon, as I have no idea how many crap EV I've gotten, and how many stat decreasing berries I would need to offset them and such.

And just as a reminder Pokemon Tournament tommorow, 6-9-07, @ 8:15pm EST and 5:15pm Pacific.

not much has changed, I wanted to implement Shecky's idea of posting your teams but keeping one Pokemon a secret but Ty hasn't responded back to my request of having our own Thread for the tournament.

Today's Tournament is as follows:

Round 1-3:  4 vs 4 (Singles) LV 50 mode
Round 4-5:  4 vs 4 (Doubles) LV 50 mode

again no legendaries, items are allowed, etc.

So items are allowed, but legendaries aren't, or no items or legendaries allowed?

I plan to win!

.....items = yes
legendaries = F'ck no

i hope Ty does respond back to me, cause i got some other ideas for a tourney that would need its own forum thread.  I have an idea to have a draft!  Basically each person gets to name one pokemon for their team until the other entrants pick theirs, then you get to pick your second pokemon.  This means nobody is allowed to use a Charizard for example if someone else is already using it.  Think of it as a fantasy draft.

I, sir, like that idea. The only problem I forsee is that well, not everyone has a diverse pool of pokemon to draft from.  In a small group it may work as most people probably have 6-8 (and I'm assuming a team of 4)

Tournament failed, but it turned into a NWR meet-up, only with record keeping with the tourney site.

So today we had Thatguy hitting double digit wins first in the tourney but failing short at hitting number 11 against Shecky!  I however went 2-0 on Shecky until he pulled a Gengar in our third match, where he went off from there and beat Thatguy twice in a row!  Caliban got some tough losses to Thatguy but edged me out.  Here is todays entire matches in reverse order:

Shecky(1) defeated thatguy(2)
Caliban(6) defeated WuTangTurtle(0688-1762-2129)(3)
Shecky(2) defeated thatguy(1)
Shecky(2) defeated WuTangTurtle(0688-1762-2129)(3)
thatguy(1) defeated Caliban(6)
thatguy(1) defeated Caliban(6)
WuTangTurtle(0688-1762-2129)(4) defeated Shecky(2)
thatguy(1) defeated Caliban(6)
WuTangTurtle(0688-1762-2129)(6) defeated Shecky(2)
thatguy(1) defeated Shecky(2)

Well, for the record, I picked a new team to fight Shecky with for these fights.  My normal team still beats everyone all the time.

I think you did.  Check the records.  I don't remember for sure, we might have done makeshift teams, but I think you won one.  That wasn't part of a tourney battle, but I can start putting all fights up on this thing if that's how everyone chooses to play.  It might be interesting.  So far, I've been putting mine in the Smack talk thread I've made.

Edit:  I just checked, and according to my game's record, I won three matches against you yesterday.

However, I noticed something interesting. Could everyone in this tournament look at me in their Pal pad and tell me what it says after "Group?"

It should say the name of the group you created in town... that's my guess.

Yes I do have one victory over you, it was on Saturday at around 1AM, later on (9 or 10pm'ish) I got a beating from you indeed lol. The pal pad keeps the records anyway.
I only register losses for the Saturday reunions, any other day for me is a training day.
Your "Group" has nothing written on it. Wutang has PETA, Shecky has nothing written, Mashiro has nothing written, and Shast has GODPLAR. If you could tell me what i have written that would be nice please.

See, for me, Pale has Zeroes, Shecky has Union 42, WuTang has Peta, Mashiro has nothing, Caliban has nothing, and BlackFootsteps has Nirvana.  BFS is the only player with a winning record over me, too.

Yeah, Caliban, I had that I had beaten you five times before last time we had a bunch of matches, and then three more times after that.  I also had that I lost to you in that earlier period, so at some point the record was 5-1, and since then, it became 8-1.  So you beat me at some point before we played our last three matches, which were either yesterday or the day before or something like that.

What's the "group" for anyway, is it of any importance to the game or something?

Well "Union 42" is what I picked as my group name in game in Jubilife city (the city with the GTS).  I think there was a gal or guy there by the fountains who asks you what group your a member of.  My choice is part of a joke, I don't know if there is a local 42 union in reality.  I also don't think there's much of a significance.  Most of you folks have played prior games (this is my first in the series) are there groups in the past games??

For the record I played WuTang 4 times... The first match was a doubles that came down to the final 2 on each side and I had a type mismatch.  So, I used my Golem's new found ability to explode and well took EVERYONE out  That led to an immediate rematch where this time WuTang did the exploding and whose bunnery endured both my hit and his friendly fire explosion in the same round.

In the last round we boosted pokemon counts to 6 from 4 and I recruited my Gengar to completely mess with his bunnery, which if you ask me likes him *way* to much considering how much damage return was doing...

thnx to the elite 4 it no longer likes me as much.....(i can't get past the 4th person)

the funny thing is Lopunny isn't really that good at all, but out of all my Pokemon so far it has been one of my most stable pokemon.  As for that last match against Shecy, ur lucky i deleted the move foresight, otherwise my Lopunny could have destroyed ur Gengar.  Also I was able to get u down to just your Gengar, and took half of its life without landing a single blow.  If i had just one more Pokemon to withstand Gengar's attacks, Gengar would have died from Hail/Swagger.

I'm back from my trip and I just want to clarify, I do EV train my guys but I do NOT item clone at all.

I don't IV train to perfection (which would require an absurd amount of time and lots of rare candies) but the EVs are easy to do with a Gamefaq list and a calculator haha.

I look forward to playing this week, 5 of my guys are now complete and ready to roll! Just deciding on what the 6th should be...

Oh and on a random side note, I beat the first Tycoon fight in the battle tower today...word lol.

You would also need to catch/breed the right pokemon with the right "nature" if you really want to be a perfectionist.  Oh and congrats to Mashiro for winning his first fight in the battle tower, personally I still haven't beaten the elite 4 yet

Now some semi important news!
I've recently added some nice links back to NWR Home, Forum, and Chat in order to make things easier for people.  I've also just added 2 new polls to the main page.  Go check em out!

Saturday's Tournament went pretty well....

Here's the breakdown:

WuTangTurtle won the tournament

1.  WuTangTurtle   4-1
2(tie).  Mashiro      3-2
2(tie).  Toruresu    3-2
3.  Shast                0-5

Round by Round:
(parenthesis acknowledge your overall tournament standing)
*matches shown in reverse order.

Mashiro(6)               defeated      Shast(7)
WuTangTurtle(3)     defeated      Toruresu(4)
Mashiro(6)               defeated      Shast(7)
WuTangTurtle(3)     defeated      Toruresu(4)
Toruresu(4)             defeated      Shast(7)
WuTangTurtle(3)     defeated      Mashiro(6)
Mashiro(7)               defeated      Shast(6)
Toruresu(6)             defeated      WuTangTurtle(3)
Toruresu(7)             defeated      Mashiro(6)
WuTangTurtle(3)     defeated      Shast(5)

So as you can see, yours truly has officially bounced back from a 0-5 outing from a tournament ago.  Mashiro's EV comeback didn't go as planned.  Shast..........he got Shafted this time around (sorry Shast but I had to use that word, lol).  Last but not least a new challenger, Toruresu, arrives and nearly steals the show!

I look forward to more of this kind of action, it was some nice furious kinda fun.  Till next time guys!

P.S. Forget about fearing my Lopunny shaming you, aBobInSnow is snowplowing everyone away lol.

I'm surprised at how little EV training actually does (considering it's so highly touted on other sides as 'essential' to winning).

The moral of the story: don't waste your time EV training: it's pointless.
