Wii Remote troubles
« on: May 02, 2007, 07:07:09 PM »
Okay, all of a sudden two of my four wii remotes are having issues. one fails to work at all. The other one loses connection randomly. I'm glad Nintendo has good warranties. Has anyone else been having wiimote troubles?

Plus, I don't know if this is related or just a bug in the game, but half the time when I start Godfather it fails to see the remote. If I go to the home menu with a second controller then the first wiimote is again recognized.

Games can control the remote, both in refusing to let it turn on (ie Wario Ware does this) and in reassigning which remote is player 1, player 2, etc. (ie Madden does this).  Some games turn off all remotes before they start and it sounds like the Godfather does just that.

Violent sharp shakes (ie Wii Boxing) can jar the batteries .... causing the need to apply a little pressure to the battery cover and then push a button to reactivate the remote.  This might be what's causing your "random" losses in connection.  To test, activate and then shake the remote to see if it goes out.  To help some thicker (foam) tape to the *inside* of the battery cover may help.

Third wiimote is going out. Yet another unique problem. Player indicator light is really dim, and it uses up a set of batteries in a day. Batteries work fine in different remote.

ShyGuy I call nintendo on that one.  Sounds like there/their/they're is a connection being mad e that shouldn't be just letting the power flow.

I have one wiimote sent off right now. They only seem to allow one remote per form, and I don't want to confuse them. As soon as I get this one back, I will send the next one out. BTW, has anyone sent a remote or other device back to Nintendo for warranty repair before? How long does it usually take to get them back?

Well, I can't speak from sending in things to Nintendo, but if they ship them the same way they used to ship Player's Guides, I live in Florida, and it would take one week after a phone order to get the Player's Guide.  Assuming they were shipping from Redmond, that's pretty quick.  Though, I can't speak about anything very recently, I think the last time I did that was around 2001.

Well when my original Wii was back I called Nintendo on Saturday and they had my replacement unit to me by Wednesday.  Then I sent my old one back. (Tennessee)

I got my Wiimote returned today, pretty good turnaround time. I actually got my wiimote that wouldn't sync to work too, Turns out, the crappy Wiimote with the dim light was blocking it. Weird, eh?
