Who said that FE bombed on the Wii? It's a very hardcore product, with permadeath and all that. With about 125,000 units moved last time I checked, that's very respectable in a market like Japan where hardcore games are finding smaller smaller markets.

Hmm... weird stuff going on with that Wii Health pack! Heart rate is all good and fun, but what they REALLY need is a home blood pressure monitor. It'd be America's favorite home medical device... my parent's use the one at Target all the time when they go there.

Wii Music! Must have! All I want to do is conduct a frickin' orchestra.

Let it be known that I had a fever of 102+ when I recorded this episode, with a sore throat, so I defnitely wasn't at the top of my game.

But I still totally stand by what I said about HD and PW. Great games, but not worth a second playthrough due to their inherent reliance on story.

*shrug* I replayed the first Phoenix Wright just because of the story and humor. I may be a Nintendo gamer through and through, but I like me a good read.

I am going on record as saying I played both Phoniex Wright games TWICE.  And mind you I replayed the sequel twice within a few months sine I played the import, than reviewed the (identical) domestic release.  (Note that since they are identical, I could have stopped playing after confirming that fact.  I did not.)

Also, PW is great to have lying around so you can lend it to friends.

First you don't repsond to or even mention the Swing Golf review.

Second, you don't properly cherish story driven adventure games!

I bet you say things like, "Gee, Moby Dick is going to be the exact same book if I read it again, I'll sell it to the used book store for a nickel!"


My podcast review score on a scale of 1 to a bottomless tub at the movie theater is one of those Christmas tin tubs full of popcorn. That's gone stale.

Why must the podcast bring up a mudslinging-fest found in our forums?  I don't see the connection, nor do I think listeners who don't visit our forums would really follow any conversation about it.  Also, I misspelled Phoenix up above so somebody please yell at me.

Kairon's already touched on it briefly, but I feel I must respond to Jonny's allegations that Fire Emblem 10 bombed in Japan.

The latest sales figures show that the game has sold 127K copies since release at the end of February.  According to Luigi Dude in the forums, FE9 sold 155,750 copies in Japan.  Considering the difference in number of users at the time of release, I don't think you can quite say FE10 bombed.

Granted, these sales are lower than previous installments.  Here's the full chart that Luigi Dude posted.

And even though I don't have the exact numbers, all the Fire Emblems that have come to America have OUTSOLD their Japanese counterparts. That's right, the Fire Emblem series has been more popular here in America over the last several years then in Japan. The American version of FE7 sold around 400,000, I think I saw FE8 around 300,000 and FE9 last time I checked sold over 160,000. Now when you combine the sales of the American and Japanese version of all these games the worldwide numbers would be like this.

FE7: Blazing Sword - 700,000
FE8: Sacred Stones - 600,000
FE9: Path of Radiance - 300,000

FE10 should move a respectable number of copies once it's released in America.

I made the point about Halo vs Metroid also not only that they're most likely going to come around the same time, but there's going to the inevitable comparison. Both are fully armored, fully loaded...people in a sci-fi setting. Granted crusty old fogey's like myself remember that Metroid has been around for 20 years, but young whipper snappers and the Gaming press seem to have short memories and are going to try and make comparisons where there aren't there. Ignorant GS/EB employees will pick up on this, in turn passing off misinformation to even more ignorant people.

I agree with Jonny that NOA is going to have to market MP3 differently. I also agree with Mike that Nintendo is under marketing its AAA titles. I don't expect a Microsoft level of advertising and campaigning, but at the least get the word out aside from word of mouth. Hopefully will up to the task, ass kicking all the way.

I don't get where this Sonic hate is coming from. Remember that the latest 2d incarnations over the years have been at worst, competent and at best spectactular.

TYP: I think we knew what you're getting at with Phoeniex. Now if you said Fenix Wright, well that would be just plain silly!

There are three reasons for why Super Swing Golf wasn't talked about.

1) Stan wasn't on the show. If we're going to discuss someone's article, we're going to have that person featured in the episode.
2) We've already covered controversial articles as a feature before. Evan, Jonny, Stan (wouldn't you know it), and myself were on it.
3) I was utterly and completely out of it when I was hosting / writing the show notes, due to the aforementioned fever. I could barely remember my own name.

Next time Stan's on the show, I'll ask him if he wants to discuss it. It's his review, so it's up to him.

I'm just listening now, and I can't believe we didn't realize something in the biometrics discussion.  I mentioned that the Love Meter would be a fun little mini-application to the next WarioWare (like the harmonica, xylophone, etc.), but I just realized that the heart rate sensor would be a perfect fit with WarioWare itself!  It's already one of the most heart-pounding games out there, so you can just imagine the possibilities of giving it info about your real heart rate.

By etc. I assume you mean the LOVE TESTER 2004 that was already included in Twisted, right?
