Monster Madness (360, PC)
« on: April 17, 2007, 08:00:47 AM »
Anyone played the demo of it yet?  I don't have a 360, so I haven't gotten the chance.  One of the main devs is actually a friend of mine from high school, a few years ahead of me.  He didn't get a chance to finish college before the studio that made it sucked him up.

Anyways, if you've played it, let me know, and tell me what you think about it.  I'll be getting the PC version.  To me it looks good, and I've seen it compared to Zombies Ate My Neighbors.  I'm really excited about it, and ecstatic that my friend is already a part of making games that are being released on a scole this large.

My friend is helping to develop this game as well, he is one of the main animators who used to be a tester for it. He has been pestering me to check it out since the demo hit. Probably sometime tomorrow I'll hop on it.

On a side note, where did you go to High School thatguy? The owner of Artificial Studios, Jeremy Stieglitz is also an acquaintance of mine from High School. We used to work on the Palm Harbor University High School web page together. I knew him back when he was making calculator games for fun. I was so surprised to see a number of years later that he was involved in the industry and had made quite a name for himself with the creation and ownership of Artificial.

"University High School"?  Does not computer!

I like the art style for this game, but I have assumed that it was more of a "Hunter: The Reckoning" type game which was not exactly my favourite.
That's my opinion, not yours.
Now Playing: The Adventures of Link, Super Street Fighter 4, Dragon Quest IX

I went to Columbia High, It's in Florida.  It seems we don't know the same person.  I know Thomas, but I won't say his last name, just for his sake, at least, I won't until the game comes out.  He's one of the lead programmers.  They hired him before he even got the chance to graduate from UF, but apparently, he's making "gobs and gobs" of money, so no problem.  He's actually posting on GameFAQs, and told a little bit about the game, though there's a lot out there.  Anyways, he was two grades ahead of me, but I also knew him because he was friends with my sister, and his best friend, at least he was his best friend then, and now they are at least good friends, is going to end up working for my dad when he gets out of college.  Anyways, we're not too close, but I'm trying to see if I can't play him in some Smash Bros. once all my finals are done, but before he gets any patch complaints about the game, or something.

I downloaded the demo last night. I love the art direction anf the game has potential but the controls are very awkward. Unless the controls are fixed in the final version of the game, I'd rather play Dead Rising.

Well, the game was delayed a few times to get Xbox Live! certification, or something like that, but it's out on the PC.  I plan to pick it up this weekend.  The 360 version is slated for mid June.

It came out!  On it's way around the review circuit, it picked up some very lukewarm reviews from frustrating cameras, control, difficulty, and checkpointing, but Thomas and Jeremy appear to be handling it well!  They're posting on the GFAQs/GameSpot message board, talking to users about the game, so, Mr. Jack, you may want to head over there and talk to Jeremy some, telling him what you think.  I won't get to play the game for about a week and a half, but I gave them my 2 cents in their advice topic, after reading the 5.0 review it got from GameSpot.

If anyone plays it, let me know what you think, and I'll relay the message to Thomas Williamson, the game's lead programmer.  It's the studios first console game, so they're taking a lot of criticism for next time.
