Well, when trying to contact Nintendo, I felt hopeless. There is no way we can communicate with them, specially if you aren't north american (like me, a brazilian, where Nintendo allows their representant company sell Nintendo products at highly abusive prices).

So I hope you guys, as a great and thrustable website can give any help to us, left-handed people.

Between 8 and 15% of the adult population is left-handed, and the percentage in younger people is a lot bigger. Even so, a great game like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is made specially for right-handed ones. I understand that they are the biggest buyers of Zelda games, but Nintendo company is supposed to do games for everyone. And they always try to make sure of it.
Link is left-handed, and I know many Zelda series fans that were quite disappointed with him holding the sword with his right hand. And I'd like to play LZ:TP, but Nintendo didn't think about my entertainment. I know it can sound as if I'm asking too much, but if any game that sounds hard to do for left-handed people they only do for the right-handed, we will loose our right to have entertainment just like a right handed.
So I'm here asking: please, Nintendo, think about us. I don't see why keep making us having to work a lot harder just to do everything like most people.

I'm quite sure a left-handed version of LZ:TP would make a great success.

Honestly since all they did was mirror the GC version, I don't see why they couldn't have just offer a mirror mode and let you choose left or right hand at the beginning of the game.

Well. First off, whether you hold the remote in the left or right hand really doesn't make a difference for Twilight Princess. Whichever way you shake, it will perform the same motion (equivalent to pressing the "B" button in previous 3D Zeldas). Therefore, it wouldn't make much sense for Nintendo to have a left-handed version just for the game. In fact, it wouldn't have made much of a difference if Link had remained left-handed; it would have just felt a bit awkward.

Also, the remote+nunchuck caters very well to left handed people. For games that require precision in aiming or gestures with the remote, left-handers can put the remote in their left hand and the attachment in their right hand. The only thing I can see being a problem is that you would be accustomed to using the analogue stick with your left thumb after all these years. This is understandable, but us right-handers, when the N64 came out, had to adjust to using the analogue stick with our non-dominant thumb. I'm sure it wouldn't be much of a problem with some practice.

Hahaha...ha...Oh brother...I'm a southpaw and I have no problem switching hands when need be...

I still don't understand why they flipped the whole game in Twilight Princess, they could have just put the sword in Link's right hand and called it a day. I guess all the interactions with other characters and things like signs or hornet nests were animated so that the sword strikes were coming from a set direction.

But also, since it's supposedly a different Link in every game (almost every game), having a right-handed Link for once isn't nearly as big deal as many people think it is.

I am seriously hating on Tiger Woods right now since there is no switching of hands in this game. At least Wii Sports let you choose. I'm hoping Brunswick Bowling will let you choose.

I'm a lefty, and I had no problem playing Twilight Princess, which would be exciting if only I didn't hate the game. =D No switching in Tiger Woods sounds pretty horrible though.

I have a feeling it has to do with the cutscenes not being able to be modified easily...

Well they should be, considering not every game can be tailored to everyone's exact tastes...Plus, being ambidextrous is pretty practical...

But nintendo mostly likely will release a zelda game in the future where it does have a significant effect. And if they wouldn't do a little more work with twilight princess for 10% of the population then they might decide the same for the next zelda when potentially much more work is required of them.

The character Link not being left handed doesn't really bother me but with zelda and mario games nintendo has had the philosophy that the main character was the person playing the game. Without a left handed option the illusion will become more incomplete as the controller adds more immersiveness.

I'm glad nintendo is getting practice adding left handed options with wario ware and other games and I hope they don't overlook zelda again.

Actually there is a setting. I think it's when you create a character. I remember seeing it the one time. When I finished my character I realized that I accidentally created a left handed character. And now I can't figure out how to switch him back to right handed

Buy the Gamecube version, you can play it on Wii and pretend that it's a Wii game you play with your Gamecube controller.

You are obviously not a southpaw then

I know you will defend Nintendo's decisions not matter how absurd, but this isn't something crazy from left handed people to demand, its a pretty big deal and we aren't just nitpicking the game, thats if the game is really handedness - oriented, and of course TP is not that game, mirroring is in my eyes a simple sign of bad development, how could anyone think it would matter at all for the end user when the swing is still not reflecting the action made with the remote is something I can't understand, but in games where it matters its a very important issue.

Since for now the games I'm interested about have not an apparent preference for the handedness of the player I don't care, but if wii Zelda comes out that way without a left handed option I'll murder someone.

I personally didn't feel like the handedness effected anything.

What's stopping you from just switching hands anyway? It's not like Link uses 1:1 sword moves. Swinging with the Wiimote in your left hand can doesn't change what Link does with the sword or shield.

In both cases, he attacks whatever you're Z-targeting, not from the direction you swing, so it doesn't matter.

But I agree that, if the next Zelda does have the player performing 1:1 sword attacks, then yes, we NEED a handedness setting.

I'm pretty sure it will. Remember that the Wii version of TP was a last minute decision, so I'm sure some ideas were mentioned but never implemented. Since the team will have more time to develop a new Zelda game AND create a new engine from the group up they will add these options in.

Are we really having this debate again? Really? It was dumb enough the first time, before TP was released and it became staggeringly obvious that you can hold the remote in whatever hand you want and it doesn't make any difference to the game. How is it possible for people to be this stupid? It blows my mind.

to play the game with your left hand would mean you would use the joystick on your right....which is plain weird!!!

Why? Right-handers have been using their non-dominant thumb for the analogue stick since the N64. You just adjust and get used to it.

I'm left-handed and I didn't have trouble with Twilight Princess. I tried playing TP and other Wii games with the remote in my left hand and the analog stick in my right and it was weird. I'm just used to the analog stick/d-pad being on the left side.

using a joystick and using a d-pad are one in the same, you didn't really change anything. I for instance hate dual analog setups. I find that i have the dexterity to press buttons with either hand, but not necassarily use a joystick. I use my right hand for the mouse, and the wii pointer, but thats wrist control and not thumb control.
