Ninja Gaiden DS!
« on: March 27, 2007, 05:35:21 PM »
Surprised no one has posted about this yet.

Anyways, Tecmo just confirmed that they are making a brand new Ninja Gaiden game for the DS. From what I read the game will be a 2.5 game. Nothing else has been mentioned.

Here's the scan.

I haven't played any of the NG games, but I know a lot of fans will be thrilled.

I don't see anything on that scan. Only a blurry, pixely mess. If it's a NG game that's good though.

It seems that the entire game is controlled via the stylus, minus blocking. Tap where you want to walk, double tap for jump, and attack with stylus commands.
Ian will be thrilled.

Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

It says "Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword" in the upper right corner.  That's fairly conclusive.

That might explain the orientation of the screenshots.  It looks like the DS will be held book-style, but that wouldn't make sense without touch-based controls.  That's pure speculation at this point as far as I know, though.

Forced touchscreen usage?  2.5D?  All it needs is licenced hip-hop music and it's my dream game!

Who knows if it's really forced? That worked for Diablo.

Diablo isn't a platformer.  It also isn't fun.

Why are people calling this a platformer?  I imagine its going to be a different animal all together then the current 3d Ninja Gaiden or the past 2d ones.

I saw that video, and I have to say, I can't wait to try it out.  I even think the controls seem like they may be better than using a traditional controller in some senses.

As much as I love my DS, I have to admit that the touchscreen has given nothing to adventure/action games (Hunters doesn't count), I hope Zelda and/or this game to change that.

Looking nice but generic and that camera looks like it'll hurt.

They need to release Chou Soujuu Mecha MG in the west, then you'll stop complaining about the touchscreen being of no use for action games.
