Oh dear, this is too amusing to be a serious news article. Turns out Jack is not only pro-families but pro-smiting.

He's responded to a lawsuit from Take Two to stop Jack from interfering with the release of GTA4 and Manhunt 2. Message follows:

Quote

Dear Gamers and Gamer Publications on the Internet and Elsewhere:

I have been praying, literally, that Take-Two and its lawyers would do something so stupid, so arrogant, so dumb, even dumber than what they have to date done, that such a misstep would enable me to destroy Take-Two. With the filing of this SLAPP lawsuit last week, my prayers are finally answered.

This lawsuit, filed in US District Court for the Southern District of Florida, is, without a doubt, the single dumbest thing I have ever seen any lawyers do in my thirty years of practicing law--while in continuous good standing to do so with The Florida Bar, I might add, the shock radio and video game industry's efforts notwithstanding.

I encourage folks to read Psalm 35, a Psalm of David, which is brilliant in its entirety (since God Himself wrote it), but for those who don't own a Bible or who think their hands will catch on fire if they touch one, here is the salient portion that applies to this lawsuit:

7 For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit,
which without cause they have digged for my soul.

8 Let destruction come upon him at unawares;
and let his net that he hath hid catch himself:
into that very destruction let him fall.

9 And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD:
it shall rejoice in his salvation.

The pit Take-Two has dug for itself will be patently clear next week when I strike back. Oh, and by the way, the entire Take-Two management and board will be gone on March 23, so this pit-digging comes at a very bad time indeed.

Amen, and Praise be to God Almighty, maker of Heaven, Earth, and yes, the maker even video games. Jack Thompson

Several simultaneous assasinations?
Paddling the board with protest signs?
Or just bombarding Take Two with prayer and psalms?

So does that mean Sodom and Gomorrah part 2 is right around the corner, only this time at Take-Two studios? I wonder if there is one innocent management member that is worth sparing Take-Two?

Maybe you were on fire to start with? These things can go unnoticed for a period of time. Like external heartburn!

take two should press courts to charge JT with making terroristic threats, because it's clear he's talking about going in there with guns drawn to go all Columbine on Take Two.

I like a good fiction, but I've never read that one before.
Which is wierd, cause people used to try and give the book to me all the time, and certain fa,mily members were always quoting parts of it. Must be good book...

...so good that they even have study groups/book clubs all over the world.

It's got more violence than World War 2 and more naughty things than the best Shakespeare plays but the ESRB would still rate it E. What's not to love about that?

Yeah, and they had book clubs for the Da Vinci Code. What does that say about the credibility of either group?

But do they have millions of these book clubs around the world, and leave copies of The Da Vinci Code for me to read in a cheap motel room? Do they send representatives to deprived and barren countries to help the locals read their books? Do they have a city centerd around the words written in that book of fiction? I also don't remember people devoting their entire lives to the Da Vinci Code. All of that must mean that The Bible is obviously a much better work of fiction that The Da Vinci Code.

p.s. Do they hold conventions and have cosplay for The Bible too?

The whole thing is too long for one movie but several parts have been filmed. However, some of the changes didn't go down well with the fanbase who kept insisting that "Jesus shot first". Also there's an active fan-fiction scene.

I somehow doubt Tatsuya Ishida is a fan of the Bible.
“...there are those who would...say, '...If I could just not have to work everyday...that would be the most wonderful life in the world.' They don't know life. Because what makes life mean something is purpose.  The battle. The struggle.  Even if you don't win it.” - Richard M. Nixon

Did I say exceptional, well I never read it, I said it based on the number of sold or free distributed Bibles, which makes my presumption to be not very trustworthy and lacking in sources...just like the Bible itself *ooops, I did it again*.

All but the newest one has nudity, most of them have sexual content, over half of them feature foul language and every single one of them has violence. Are we sure this is appropriate for everone. I think we should get Jack Thompson to sue whoever the author and publisher of The Bible is and restict it's sales due to such adult content and the fact that it is being freely distibuted around the world without so much as to a warning of the content inside the book.

The minds of the young are very impressionable and I wouldn't want them reading this book before they have the common sense to seperate fact from fiction, truth from lies and fantasy from reality. Is this book in the fiction section at your local library? I didn't think so.

Major publisher and developer Take-Two (Grand Theft Auto series) has announced that it is considering a sale of the company, following a fierce shareholder battle which threatens to depose major executives and the board.

A group of prominent Take-Two investors owning 46% of the company's shares, including OppenheimerFunds, D.E. Shaw Valence Portfolios, S.A.C. Capital Management and Tudor Investment, are looking to remove current CEO Paul Eibeler and bring about changes within the company's board of directors.

Due to this, Take-Two has announced that it has postponed its annual meeting from March 23rd until March 29th "...to provide additional time to review the proposed actions of the shareholder group and also to evaluate alternative courses of actions that could potentially be presented to the shareholders."

The main example of an alternative course of action is "a possible sale of the Company", though the official notice also notes: "There is no assurance that any specific alternative proposal will be forthcoming."

Nintendo should just buy the company to shut the "kiddie" complainers the hell up once and for all.
"OK, first we need someone to complain about something trivial. Golden or S_B should do. Then we get someone to defend the game, like Bill or Mashiro. Finally add some Unclebob or Pro666 randomness and the thread should go to hell right away." -Pap64

I had a theory about Jack Thompson...

What if he's actually a PLANT by the gaming industry? Seriously, what if they manufactured the bastard to represent the anti-gaming violence movement?

With letters like this one, I'm sure he's alienating far more people than he's encouraging to join his anti-violence crusade. Logically speaking, if I wanted to prevent a REAL opponent from surfacing to counter my plans, I'd generate a false opponent who is so clearly batsh*t crazy that no one will be able to take him OR the argument against me seriously. Right now, if anyone tries to take up the fight against gaming violence, their cause is inevitably lumped in with JT and is immediately and invariably weakened as a result.

It's like if Pauly Shore was fighting to allow ga y marriage: because of his lack of credibility, the entire cause suddenly seems like a joke, just like what JT is doing for the anti-violence cause.

As long as JT is doing this, it's hard for a COMPETENT opponent of violent gaming to rise to popularity. If I were the gaming industry, I'd see JT as a godsend.

Is it required to believe in hell before getting sent there?
I'm just wondering cause I either need to keep not believeing or stop believing in it before I get there
