The Homestarrunner appreciation thread
« on: March 05, 2007, 01:01:47 PM »
There's a huge chance that you know what the hell Homestarrunner.com is so I won't bother with the details. If you are a big fan of the series like I am, come here and give a shout out to your favorite flash cartoon series! If you are not...go elsewhere :p .

Anyways, here are some of my favorite HR shorts, Strong Bad emails and events:
Favorite shorts
Weclome back
Strongest man in the world contest (2006 remake)
Strong Bad is a bad guy (done in Mario Paint)

Favorite holiday shorts
Decemberween short shorts
Fall float parade
Halloween Potion-ma-jig

Puppet stuff
The biz-cas-fri series

Teen girl squad
All of them except the first 3 episodes. Episode number 10 has become a never ending inside joke between me and S_B.

Strong Bad e-mail
The movies (most recent one)
What I want (recent one)
Retirement
Theme song
Re-design
Pop up book
Narrator
Bottom 10 (CHOCOZUMA'S REVENGE! has become another inside joke between me and S_B)
Rock opera
Virus
Montage
Alternate universe
Extra plug
Different town

I have many other favorites, but these are the main ones.

As for least favorite stuff, I don't care much for the Cheat commandos, the Old timey cartoons and many of the older shorts and SB Emails.

How did I discover the series: I discovered it sometime around the mid 00s, when it was rising to popularity. I'll admit that at first, I didn't care for it nor understood many of the references people in online forums were posting. But then I started to truly follow the series in 2004, that's when the series' charm grew on me.

Now, its the first thing I watch in the morning before going to school and the last thing I watch before I go to bed.

Now its your turn to post HR faves, stories, opinions and such.

I haven't laughed at a Strongbad E-mail in years and I never really liked any of the toons apart from Teen Girl Squad.

Teen Girl Squad and Trogdor are legend. Guessing the costumes for Halloween is always fun too.

My favorite toon is "Ballad of the Sneak" and my favorite email is "i love you".

I must agree with Dasmos that Strong Bad is past his prime. Homestar Runner, meanwhile, keeps getting funnier and funnier. He's now my favorite character.
“...there are those who would...say, '...If I could just not have to work everyday...that would be the most wonderful life in the world.' They don't know life. Because what makes life mean something is purpose.  The battle. The struggle.  Even if you don't win it.” - Richard M. Nixon

I agree that Homestar has gotten better as a character. But I think Strong Bad is still funny. I thought the Movies e-mail was really funny.

"Don't you people notice the movie playing?????

OH DO-DE-DU-DU-DE-DU-DU-DIE!!!!!!!!!"

The Theme song e-mail was funny as well.

I must agree with Dasmos that Strong Bad is past his prime.

That calls for extreme measures: LACELIFT!

Homestar Runner, meanwhile, keeps getting funnier and funnier. He's now my favorite character.

IIRC the authors stated they felt with the SBemails the focus was drifting too far away from Homestar and too much towards Strong Bad and they wanted to make Homestar the main character again.

And pap, with all your inside jokes you reall need to add jumbo/LARGE.

Favourite cartoons: Cheat Commandos!
Favourite character: Homsar

1999 has complained to the authorities about this thread, citing that it is the one true owner of any HR appreciation event.

After watching the latest SBemail I can see this.

The episode was great, but you can tell that they wanted to focus on the other characters rather than Strong Bad. First of all, he is dead and his commentary of it is normal. Then the biggest laughs comes from Strong Mad, Coach Z, Strong Sad and Homestar (now let us read from the book of phone). Even SB's "stand out joke" wasn't as funny as the other characters' jokes were.
