I'm just impressed that an old curmudgeon like Dvorak even gave the Wii a try and even more so that he actually wrote about it.  He's usually too wound up in his own techno-industrial geek world to actually talk about anything that is actually "fun".   Maybe he is finally  loosening up a little.

It is kind of interesting, our Strategic Management professor uses the Wii as an example of differentiation and expansion of the market. Personally I find it pretty high praise when a Professor, of all people, start to use Wii as an example of market disruption!

Dvorak is an @$$...I'm in the IT industry and people IN the industry don't take his articles seriously. The guy loves to cause a stir. He stated years ago Apple wouldn't be around today. The guy is a Microsoft fanboy, but then will b*tch about them.  

The Wii has no doubt caused a stir in the gaming industry, but I don't need Dvorak to tell me that.

I too am IN the industry and we VALUE Dvorak like no other. He is seriously one of the greats.

As soon as someone says they are in the industry, I could care less what they think of anything.

You write? Well that's great. Doesn't mean your writing is coherent or insightful or remotely interesting.
You play lots of games? Again, good for you. Doesn't mean that when you open your mouth, the scribes write your musings down as law.
You have a brain? And a mouth? Or even a keyboard? Well, don't just use them like they're running out of fashion. Like most of the internet, you're probably spewing out rubbish at a fantastic rate. Think of open mic night at the Improv and its a decent approximation for the interest that others have in you.

They're called opinions for a reason - they don't have to be backed up with facts or even rationale.

Now run along to Myspace and complain to your friends. Or even check out your local EB, they'll be happy to sell you a PS3 hear your thoughts.
