General Choas
« on: March 01, 2007, 08:27:48 AM »
I'm not to sure where to put this since it's a Sega game but pertains to the Virtual Console on the Wii, so figured this would be a good spot for it. I was going back into my old Genesis games that I can't play since my Genesis system is broken, and I found a classic that I haven't thought about in a long time. Does anyone here remember the game General Chaos for Sega? It was published by EA, and was wondering if maybe it has some shread of hope to coming to the Wii's VC Selection. Honestly not to sure if EA is publishing for old titles to be on the VC List, haven't really kept up with it lately, and hoping this would be a dream come true. Game was kind of a military strategy game that had 2 sides and overview small map. Each players could switch threw one of the 5 people in their team, each ussually with their different weapon, and could only control one at a time but could hit a button to make someone else come to where he is. Was a very good game for back in the day. You could also go Commando style and have only two dudes that you mostly have more control over. You could run to your guy if he is down before he dies and also call for a medic if it isn't to late. The graphics were cartoony and had a good amount of humor in it. Great game, and hoping someone here has played it! Another game I found was Cyborgs of Justice, but I'm to lazy to wiki it and see who developed it to see if it has some chance of coming on the VC List.

Edit: Fixed Spelling of Chaos.

OH GOD! I remember playing this game at a cousin's house and it's stuck with me ever since!

... But my cousin had a Sega CD. Was General Chaos on Sega-CD or actual Genesis?

Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

I had a Sega CD too, but I just looked it up on Wiki to make sure and it was for the actual Sega Genesis. Forget what games were on Sega CD these days, lol.

We played many hours of General Chaos in 4 player mode with commandoes, or just 2 player co-op.  Good times...

You know we haven't seen EA on the VC yet have we?  I'm sort of surprised by that.

Does EA have any old IP on any of the available avenues (Wii, Xbox, PC?)

I also like this game as it took vengence against button mashers... mash 'em in close combat and the opposing character just pulls a gun on you and ends your little cheap rampage with swift vengence!

I totally forgot about that stuff Shecky. I used to love getting into close combat fist fights with the guy and kicking him in the shines. I never knew why they would fall to the ground and act dead, and then shoot you though! I thought it was random, but now it makes more sense... my brother was a button smasher in the game and would always get the trigger pulled on him.

I used to love the rocket dudes that shot things that looked like lazers, and then good old comedy relief comes in and they turn into a skeleton and fall apart. Always nice to get an instant kill and not give them a chance to call medic! =D

One of my favorite games.  I liked the flame thower guys the most, they seemed to burn people beyond the hope of medics.  Why can't companies make 1 screen (non fps type) co-op games anymore?  They were all over the place before 3d and they were awesome.

Agreed. I miss those days and the mindset of developers. I enjoy the flame thower guy as well, though the grenaders and TNT'ers would always get me after killing one of their dudes. Everyone was fun to play in the game, and was really a blast when playing with someone else.
