I was wondering the samething ShyGuy, I think I am going to go with Medal of Honor just becuase the controls looked a little improved from other FPS out, but I'm also going to wait and see if this has any type of multiplayer once so ever. My roommate bought The Godfather for XBox when it came out, and while it was amusing.. I can't seem to get into GTA type games since GTA 3, the original. I played way to much GTA3 on PS2 that Vice City and San Andres never looked interesting to me. I do admit that the Wii Controls for Godfather make it look noteworthy though.

From the IGN article:

Quote

Vanguard does, however, have its competitors beat in the area of a multiplayer mode. Call of Duty 3 lacked one entirely and Medal of Honor boasts a four-player split-screen option completely with traditional deathmatch, capture the flag and king of the hill game types. Unfortunately, the company was unable to showcase these modes during our presentation.

You know EA has to have online kits by now, and probably have had for some time, so I can't imagine there being reason for it besides not wasting the money and energy into implementing it.

because they're late to the game and they want to sh!t out their first wave of titles first before they work on the second wave with slightly more effort and focus -- but only after they've garnered some revenue after the first wave.

other publishers are currently busy on their second wave, of which i'm more interested in (more like blindly hopeful about).

but really, i don't like the idea of my next next-gen shooter experience to take place in World War 2, AGAIN.

'Wish BWii would get out sooner.

I highly doubt we are going to see any third-party wii game with online multiplayer before the end of June of this current year, remember that pokemon battle revolution was anounced for June 25 as the first wifi wii game.

I think I will get this game, I've been itching for another FPS for my Wii and this appears to be the best bet. I will wait for a couple reviews though.

I was reading up on this title to see when it comes out exactly on Gamestop.com, and I think I'm going to preorder this game today. The weird Q&A part of the Gamestop's Wii Medal of Honor Vanguard page, and I noticed this about the controls.

Quote

Wii seems to be perfect for first person shooters and so far all of them had their special approach to the Wii-controller. How did you approach it?

Vanguard will take advantage of the Wii’s two-handed controls, using the nunchuk and the remote to make for a very unique, exciting and compelling shooter control system. Most of the movement-related controls – running, strafing, jumping, crouching, are executed with the nunchuk. There are gestures for jumping and crouching, as well as for reloading your weapon. A popular and really useful gesture is turning around 180 degrees, which is extremely useful when surrounded by the enemy, and even better in Multiplayer, where the player can whip around on someone trying to get you from behind.

Another important feature that has been added is the ability for players to customize and refine several aspects of the controls. We listened to the suggestions of our fans who wanted to be able to adjust the sensitivity of the remote pointer, depending on their preferences. Now, If the player wants a more controlled play experience, you can lock the reticle in the middle of the screen so your pointer only controls your view, as well as constrain the range of vertical movement.

Seems like EA put some more thought into the controls and listen to some feedback from other Wii FPS. I was really hoping for a FPS to do this type of control customization, so I think I'm definately going to pick this up when it comes out. I just hope you can turn the brightness up in the game a bit.

The only reviews I've seen are from 1up and Game Informer, both who are fanatically anti-Nintendo and 1up says right off the bat that, for some godforsaken reason, they dislike using the pointer to aim.

Wait until some more REAL publications review these games, as 1up is so obviously being paid by Sony after their recent attempts to downplay how asstacular the PS3 launch went in Europe and Australia.

Soooooooo...has anyone played the game?

It seems that the curse of the Wii controls has struck again. I've been reading mixed reviews about it, including the ever so beloved "shoehorned" claims.

Do we have yet another case where the media is too hard on a Wii game or for once do we agree with the reviewers?

People bitched about Red Steel controls. I had no problem.

People bitched about Sonic: SR controls. I had no problem.

I'm going to take a shot in the dark and guess that I'm not going to have a problem with these controls either.

My problem with RedSteel's controls isn't that they feel "Shoehorned" or 'tacked on'. It's just that they aren't really accurate.

It's difficult to perform any sword kata other then the first one, because the game just doesn't register your attack correctly. Otherwise, I like the wii mote control because I can play FPS type games again. I detest dual analog. I'd definitely buy a Red Steel 2. I just hope they'd tighten the controls.

MOH isn't that bad. The controls took some getting used to, and aiming isn't as smooth as I'd like, but it's been a decent rental. The graphics aren't anything special but the audio is pretty nice if you have a decent surround system.
For me, nothing will ever replace a mouse and keyboard for a FPS and this game reafirms this, but the wii is the only console I could find myself enjoying one on.

Did you set it to long gestures? Once I went with long gestures, it worked fine, but in

To answer the other questions, I've played CoD3, Red Steel, FarCry and even Elebits so I've seen basically every FPS interface the Wii offers so far.

I'll let you know in comparison once I give it a try and I have a teenage friend for the teenage opinion as well.

I actually prefer the Wii's controls to keyboard and mouse, specifically FarCry's because the ability to lock the screen with A and immediately shoot at one specific target.

I tried both and couldn't tell the difference.  There was just too much of a disjoint between my motions and the character's motions.

The controls and aiming both look like they suck.
