SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Ziff Davis Game Group tonight hosted the fourth annual 1UP Awards party in San Francisco, where the editors of Ziff Davis' market-leading 1UP Network honored the top videogame publishers and developers for their contributions to the art and culture of gaming.

The 1UP Network welcomed gaming executives representing the $14 billion industry to the Foreign Cinema bistro and movie house to celebrate their successes. GameVideos.com projected episodes of The 1UP Show, the gaming industry's leading video podcast, on the brick walls of the outdoor garden as the guests mingled.

Its a travesty that Budokai Tenkaichi 2 didn't win best Fighter over WWF: Annual Roster Update Edition.

Clearly the judges aren't PGC members, else they would know how much Zelda totally sucks.

How on earth did Need For Speed: Carbon grasped the Racing Game of the Year award?

Other than that, the list is reasonably agreeable although I think Gears of War and/or Viva Pinata were artistically the best games especially on a HDTV.

Artistically means style, a HDTV shouldn't change anything in that category.

It's about damn time Zelda got some recognition. I don't get why every media outlet crapped all over it with the awards. Wind Waker did better and I think we all agree TP is far superior (even though Wind Waker is prettier). Next problem, why didn't Excite Truck get racing game of the year?

I know but if you have a HDTV to play the two games on, they look much more pleasing on the eye.

I am a bitter person over the lost of The Wind Waker's cel-shaded style for Twilight Princess but I still appreciate what is on offer in the game itself.
