Update on my broken cube
« on: March 14, 2003, 06:01:54 AM »
if any of you remember...i posted about 2 weeks ago about my cube not working....getting a "disc cannot be read" message on each and every game i tried...and that my GC was about 2 months past the manufactorer warranty...well as i said, i called nintendo about it and they entended the warranty.

it was sent in and repaired, and i got it back in ONE week exactly. just like the barenaked ladies song. it didnt cost me a dime and it works better then before. they even replaced my controller (the A and B buttons had lost their snap and were spongy due to lots of use) and i didnt even say anything about it....

i give major kudo's to nintendo, as if i havent been their customer long enough, they are sure to keep me around for a while.

just an update....and now back to my 3rd year franchise in madden 2003....

When I last visited NOA HQ, they had Customer Service letters on the wall.  Your situation is NORMAL for Nintendo.  They go absolutely out of their way to make sure their customers are satisfied.  Nintendo prides themselves on their outstanding dedication to customer support.

Never have heard the word that a cube is broken.
Xboxes get broken more often then Cubes.
Maybe its Microsof() or just wrong terms of usage.
Never have heard a PS2 was broken though.........

Nintendo is going to treat us good:F-Zero and Star Fox Armada, new Pikmin, 1080, Kirby, Mario Golf, Mario Kart, Mario Tennis and 2 or 3 new franchises ( maybe mature).
Planning on buying an Xbox! Now all I nead is a good gamertag for Live!

Thats very awesome of Nintendo to extend your warranty.  I just hope my cube never overheats or anything bad happens to it.  Have had mine since it launched now.

PS2s break all the time.  I've seen one broken Gamecube, but the warranty was done just as efficiently.

Do you have percentages?  You know, how many broken / how many sold?  What matters is the failure rate, not the actual number.

Also, where do you work?

Come to think of it, the one Gamecube that was broken came from my friend that chews off his control sticks and kicks things when he gets pissed while playing.  And he cusses a lot, too, but he's the funniest dude I've ever met.  But that might have been part of the reason it broke.  His controller broke, too, but that was an accident.  He may have very well kicked the cube.

As for me, my Gamecube fell a hard three feet down onto cold tile and it still works splendidly.
