game boy advance freezing up

when my son starts his gameboy advance the start up screen comes up ,then the game freezes up,sometimes goes plad .What is the problem?

Does this happen with the same game, or have you tried others in the system and get the same result?

I have encountered this type of problem before. If you turn on a GameBoy Advance without a game, the logo appears and the system just sits there. Sometimes on my GameBoy Advance SP, the cartridge wouldn't quite "connect" with the system and the system acted like no game was inserted. The solution: Turn off the system, remove the cartridge, reinsert the cartridge, and try again.
