Wii've Gone Crazy
« on: January 27, 2007, 10:46:01 PM »
Yesterday my wii crashed when trying to load a game past the disc channel. It happened once with Zelda about 2 weeks ago. It showed the strap reminder and then a black screen and all you could hear was the disc drive making noises and not getting anywhere.
Then, later on, i put in Wii Play and it crashed completely at the channels, going to a complete black screen saying to eject the disc and check the manual.

Then when we were done and i was packing up, the wii switched itself on and off three times.

Has anybody else have anything similar to this?

I've had a few issues.  Some weird noises and the occassional crash.  Its also refused to acknowledge the (charged) Wii-mote a couple times.

For some reason my Mortal Kombat Deception disk does not want to play, it plays fine in my gamecube though.  I'm not real sure if it's an issue considering it has some scratches on it.  Whats more of an issue is how did it get all the scratches on it.

I've noticed that cube games with scratches have a tougher time playing on wii than on the cube.  I have a really scratched up copy of burnout 2 that has trouble starting on wii, but no trouble on the cube.  The guess would be because of the slot drive versus just putting it directly over the laser.

My Wii acted up once when I had it turned off for a while (because I hadn't used it for a while I turned it off because I didn't know when I would geta round to playing again) and when I turned it back on it got stuck trying to get the game inside working, which was Super Swing Golf, I just turned the system off then on again and it didn't repeat.

The only problem I sometimes have is channels taking a long time to load. The Wii just sits there with a black screen and my controllers are unresponsive. This is a pretty rare problem for me, so I don't really mind it. The Wii is probably working on something in the background that the channel needs (e.g., getting updated weather).
Thanks for listening.

My Wii has crashed on my about 3 times now, nothing to major though. I do have this problem where, even after sync'ing my controllers, I turn my Wii off and my the controllers I was using at he time stay on. It doesn't happen all the time, just once in awhile. I would say once every one-two weeks. I can't turn my Wii back on from my controllers to turn them off, and I have those gloves for each controller so it is a pain to uncover the battery pack, but I have to end up holding the power button on the Wii for about 5 seconds to boot the Wii up and then shut it down without using controllers. For some reason, It will work after that, but I have no idea what causes my Wii to do this. I have 3 controllers, waiting for WiiPlay for my forth.

I have the same problem sometimes.  I used to think that the thing had just frozen, but it turns out if you wait long enough (sometimes 3-4 minutes) it will eventually load whatever it was you wanted to do.

A couple times I've tried turning the system off using the power button on the controller and it doesn't turn off quite right.  The controller turns off.  The system stops making sounds and fades just a hair.  But it's still on and you can still see the main menu (or, presumably whatever screen you were looking at when you tried to turn it off).  The only way to shut it down at this point is to walk over and hold the power button on the system until it goes red and completely shuts down.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Mine has crashed once when I put the Zelda disc in and it just black-screened ("an error has occurred") and asked me to check the instruction manual.
It also crashed another time while playing Zelda: I was inside the Arbiter's Grounds temple and it just crashed after I entered a room.
That's all.
