Topic: Does Gradius have an end?!?

I managed to get lucky and warp past level 4, which I could never get past.  I got to what I assume was level five that had those tentacle things and caused major game slowdown.

Then a final level after that.  Is that the final level in the game?  My hand hurts after 20 minutes of play and getting that far

There's the base afterwards and then once you've beaten it you get to do it again.

What a crappy final boss.  After two weeks of play, I finally beat the thing.  Sometimes 2D games are just more fun than 3D ones .

I was on the final level, and so damned close to the end, that I crashed through the door before the brain.  I thought you had to blast it away, and I
lost my next to final life and all my power ups.  I then ran through the final end again, and took a chance and moved in before the door closed.  I got lucky
the end boss is no such thing.  At least the game had a minor ending for all that work, however .
