So the 360 will seduce the Wii into joining forces to kill the PS3, allowing for the 360 to take total control over the market, leaving the Wii with a subordinated niche; all the while, the DS attempts to rebel for decades only to finally, at the last minute, convince the Wii of their company line to finish off the 360, yet at the loss of the Wii, which leaves the DS in total control?

To Arbok, ...ok something like that. I was thinking of the scene in Revenge of the Sith specifically but your analogy works too. I dont think Wii will die but i do expect it to utterly destroy Ps3.

To ceric, Yoda is the Virtual Console, with all its infinate knowledge and being so ancient. Han Solo is all Mii stuff, you hate them at first but grow to love it after just a few minutes.

Damn it they better not screw up making the perfect Star Wars game on Wii! Everybody I know agrees wholeheartedly that THAT is the game that will convince all the ps3 fanboys to take Wii seriously.  Cuz EVERYBODY loves Star Wars even those who hate Nintendo.

Ha! I laugh because it is laughable that I, The Nerd of Truth, would recognize your little society (re:Teenage girl slumber party) as an authority. Ha! I could throw so many Firefly quotes/references at you, your head would literally spin... much in the same way that Serenity's engine didn't spin in the episode "Out Of Gas."

Yeah. That's what I thought.

The Star Wars reference is inadequate.

Mace Windu completely trashes Palpatine and defeats him, until Anakin kicks his butt.  However, PS3 isn't even near defeating the Xbox 360, and probably won't.

Truthfully,

The Best Star Wars reference would be:

Vader:  Sony in General (The Play Station Name)
Obi-Wan: Gamecube
Wii: Luke Skywalker
The Emperor: Microsoft (Xbox consoles)

Imperial Guards: Xbox Fan boys
Storm Troopers/The Empire in general: Play Station Fan boys.
Rebels: Nintendo Fan boys.

Oh, and the DS/Gameboy consoles: Han Solo/Chewie and the Falcon.

It was Mantis.. or M.A.N.T.I.S.?

Don't forget Space: Above and Beyond, Total recall 2070, and Enemy Mine!

Either way, I shall now construct an altar in your name.

Enemy Mine scared the crap out me with that Giant Ant Eater Monster.

I remember:

Original Battle Star Galatica
Earth 2
Lone Gunmen (which was on for less than a season)
Babylon 5 was amazing.
Farscape isn't that old.
Mutant X sucked.
Sea Quest was Star Trek TNG underwater
Buck Rogers was pretty sweet

Does anyone remember James Bond Jr?

Since when was any true Sci-Fi fan concerned with quality of the show.

It only mattered about quality of the Sci-Fi Concept.

James Bond Jr.- Talk about digging up your obscure shows.

Earth:Final Conflict uh well sucked and really sucked.
There is a reason why it was buried for so long.

Earth 2 was good for a while.  Then it became apparent that this abandones planet was well populated.
I remember the final episode where the main character either dies or gets really sick.  They sorta just write
her out of the story.

Sci Fi on tv hasn't been good since the fifth/sixth season of X-Files or the final season of DS9.

Wow,  Buck Rogers.  I've only seen a few episode of that one.  In particular one with Energy Vampires.

Of course I'll throw Dr. Who into the mix.

Earth 2 was good to a point.
Enemy Mine if memory serves was originally a short story.  A pretty good one at that.  Sort of like a Cold Equation.
Also Twilight Zone and the other show like it that the name alludes me.  Especially with its connected Sci-fi Storyline... The poor guys ends up being tortured for the rest of his life.

Edit:  You caught me.  I'm just a casual Geek/Nerd.  I just sort of picked it up and I'm not very active in it at large, even though I was the president of my College Sci-fi/Fantasy club.  Plus Star Wars the movies I like but I don't rewatch or rank as some of my favorite movies.

Guess I'm not a true sci-fi fan then. As far as shows go, Firefly and Battlestar Galactica are all I've watched. They're great shows though. I would bet that I would like other sci-fi stuff if I knew what I should be looking for.

Well, the "sci-fi" concept thing becomes true to me when I wonder about why in the world I enjoyed Sea Quest, or why I enjoy the original battlestar galactica so much... and ESPECIALLY why I enjoy Space Above and Beyond much more than the rest of the world did.

Not to say that Space: Above and Beyond was bad... it's actually my personal version of "Firefly."

Quantem Leap was awesome show. I also used to watch Time Cop or somthing like that, it was pretty cool for a while. I never was a real big sci-fi fan but i did watch a lot of sci-fi shows. I forgot what it was called but my other favorite was a show about this family who travel back in time to dinosouars,. lost something or other I forget, My memory sucks sometimes.

I watched the original battlestar galacitca (yes mispelled sue me) but only cuz my mom watched it. It was ok I guess but not my favorite stuff. I did like ST TNG even though I didnt care for the original star trek show. I liekd some of the movies though if that counts.

I personally prefer movies over tb shows cuz I dont watch tv that much.

Ok SPak, you win, the SW reference wasnt as good. I couldnt rememebr LOTR and still have no clue what the original reference is.

For the skeptics out there, Peter Moore says:

Quote

From a first-party point of view, it’s not just about E-rated games, it’s going to be about the experience that, quite frankly, Nintendo has done a tremendous job in capturing, in bringing back fun—if you will—to the gaming platforms. But we’ve got a few tricks up our sleeve as well to be able to do that. It’s not something that we’re going to be shy about, and it’s not something that we’re not painfully aware of that needs to be changed by this holiday. That has been the strategy all along, and we’ll be making some more announcements in the coming month or two. I think you’ll see how serious we are about that.

My two bits:  Moore does an awful lot of praising of Nintendo, and I think that's his job.  I believe Microsoft is still in "enemy of my enemy is my friend" mode, and creating goodwill with Nintendo fans as well as pushing Nintendo as an alternative to Sony are key points to that strategy.  At the same time he's basically saying that MS really needs to have some products to compete with the Nintendo style of game by this holiday.

I don't know if Microsoft totally gets it yet.  Execs like Moore clearly recognize that "casual/fun' games are a weak spot for Xbox, but I don't know if they understand what it's going to take to beat Nintendo.  They're at least halfway there, though.  They definitely know something's up with Wii.
That's my opinion, not yours.

That quote was a well constructed piece of PR hitting most of the right notes.  Perrin Kaplan and Sony could learn a thing or two from a quote like that.  Now I'm going to read the interview and see if the rest is like that.
