WiiConnect24 ate my miis :(
« on: January 05, 2007, 05:27:42 AM »
If you've added lots of people to your friends list, had lots of friends try out mii creation, and/or been busy creating weird freaks or celebrity miis, you've no doubt run into the 100 mii limit in your plaza. But what happens when you have 100 miis, and someone sends you some miis? I've gotten the message, "You have more miis to be received. Quit and restart the mii channel to receive your miis" (or something to that order).

However, when I kill off some "expendable" miis () and quit and re-enter the mii channel, I never receive anything. It's frustrating because someone's spent the time to send me a mii, and then it gets lost in cyberspace somewhere, doomed to forever wander the great abyss, with no home. I have no way to know what it was, and who sent it to me.

Anybody else running into this? Anyone know how to fix it?

The thing that initially confused me about Miis is that I thought Miis were "sent".  I think they're really just being copied.  If you ask around your contacts maybe you can get whoever sent them to send them to you again.

Jon, are you online with your Wii now? You'll have to post your #, or PM it over to me.

Considering I've got about 50-60 friends on my list, that'd be no short order. I'm looking for a reason this is happening, and if I can recover the "lost miis." Am I exiting/re-entering the channel wrong somehow, or maybe there's some "Receive Miis" button I've been missing or something? Do I have to power-off my Wii in between?? I'm mainly just confused.

I PMed you at VGMaps.com, bustin.  Didn't see your Wii number there, oops.  LOL, it begins with a 360.

Anyway, decoyman, to confirm the "copying" that the sending really is, I remember that on the second or third day with my Wii I went into the Mii Parade and saw a Mii of my friend Miyuru (he claims to be an Internet legend, I guess he's "famous" on GAF or something) and took him to my own Mii Plaza.  Then I deleted him and freaked out that I no longer saw him in the parade, however, I saw that his brother was there and assumed that I was able to delete other people's Miis (even though that would be dumb).  Turns out that wasn't the case...I'm guessing WiiConnect24 didn't connect and didn't update the fact that he was actually still there.  Later, he sent himself back to me, instead of having me grabbing him from the Parade, if that makes a difference.

EDIT: 50-60 people?  Holy smokes!  Yeah, I'm guessing they're (or the copies of them are) actually lost, I haven't heard of them keeping a queue of incoming Miis.

The parade and plaza are different, NeoThunder. I've got like 320 miis in my parade right now, and I don't know how high it can go. It's been at around 300 since it got up there, though, so maybe the cap is around there at ~325 or so...

Plaza is definitely capped at 100 though, which shows some oversight on Nintendo's part – that's only one for every potential friend in your friend book. Got friends who want to play with their own miis, or weird creations you want to save? You'd be out of luck. Though... I don't know if copying to a controller could help any... are you able to use those for play in Wii Sports, assuming the controller is active?

My Mii Parade has been stuck at 350 for over a week.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

If your one Wii contact only made two Miis, then you'll only see two Miis.  I guess they could've made more, but maybe they didn't set them to Mingle?
