I don't recall hearing it will be online.

To be honest I don't see it happening. Nintendo is most likely to be the first people to use the online components of the SDK and they only have one online Wii title that I recall: Pokemon Battle Revolution.

Battle Revolution wont come out before Diamond/Pearl does. Assuming that is the case, SSX Blur would be out first.

Both of those games release dates are TBA. I suspect if either was going to be out before March we'd know about it by now.

Granted, this game should be online. But if it isn't the fault falls on Nintendo, not EA.

Thing is, though, Pokemon BRev is already out in Japan with online functionality so this wouldn't be the FIRST game, just the US first.

I'll buy this if only in the hope that it can convince me that my bad experiences with this genre because of TH:ZDJ was an exception and not the rule.

EA could put a little more effort into the graphics. I mean, I know it's snow, but even snow has detail like bump mapping in Rogue Leader/Rebel Strike on the GC.

I just wish they would go back and make a direct sequel to Tricky. None of the others has captured the pure fun of that game, there's just something about that pop of "tricky" as you land a trick that "monsters" and "ubers" can't touch. Also none of the others had the character personality that was so great in Tricky, that game is still one of my alltime favorite games.

Madden 07 certainly wasn't a straight port. And Blur is looking mighty pretty to me. Who cares about bump mapping? Have you gone back and played Tricky? It looks nowhere near as good as SSX 3, yet it's a much better game.

actually, something about the Wii has coused EA to inovate, Madden looks great and I've played NFS Carbon, it controls great and allows you such easey access to the break that even a rookey car game player like me was ablbe to fly around sharp turns.

All I'm saying is that Ubisoft better figure out that EA isn't slacking off on Wii inovation so they shoouldn't either.

I just watched the video up on IGN and I have a mixed bag of feelings about this game. The video demonstrates how the game will control using the Wiimote+nunchuck. All the steering appears to be done with Nunchuck tilting. This seems like a very bad idea to me. The nunchuck isn't very precise and to use it as the primary control method seems very offputting to me. The rest of the controls looked very appealing to me on the other hand. Simple logical gestures to do spins, front flips, backflips and tricks. If the nunchuck control is accurate enough this game is looking mighty fine. I guess I'll have to wait on some reviews to see if I'll purchase or not.

Yeah but Downhill Jam is an awesome game. I doubt even Blur's gonna beat out the excellent level designs found in that. But it's nice that the crap Skiing from SSX On Tour isn't going to be in this one. OR IS IT.

Hmm, no posts on this since it was released?

My impressions after a few/5 hours of play: it's fun for a game that's a remix of previous tracks.

Control scheme took a long time to get used-to... we're talking hours here and Ubers are still really hard to do. Steering/carving is done with the analog stick on the nunchuk and you move the 'chuk for tighter turns. Wiimote does all of the tricks except grabs, which are on the Z button.

Graphics are good at 480p, but everything looks at least a little bit different from what you might remember. Characters are now cartoony which is slightly bizarre considering SSX's history. I would've thought they'd go more realistic.

Issues encountered so far: had the game freeze once when trying to do a simple 1-1 player challenge. Needed a plug-pull. Also seem to experience some weird pauses/lag when going down certain places. I think it might have to do with either loading, or perhaps it's music/DJ related.

Overall: a definite rental recommended for hardcore gamers.

Ran out of post-space, so I'll add a few more thoughts here...

This is an "E" rated game. I really don't see many younger kids actually excelling at this game. The nuances of using both controllers at once may be too hard for them to grasp or to get the most out of a game where speed AND tricks are so essential. I should probably mention again that Ubers are really hard to get and they only get more complicated.

About the mountain layout, it seems cobbled-together, probably because they took various tracks and spliced them into 3 peaks. The days of going from top to bottom in a 20 minute free-ski ride are over as far as I can see. If you hit an event threshold, you're yanked into it with no choice to skip it. I always enjoyed free-ski the most, so when one of the major map features is to teleport you to a certain hill section, you know those days are over. Collectables are 235 tokens which give you 12 Ubers total, and money is gone now. Stats boosts are from wins. New stuff is won from 32 challenges.

For the record the ESRB ratings are for content not difficulty.

Thought I remind everyone. I didn't really see young kids getting into this game from the description either.

I had it freeze on me too, but I don't unplug anything, I just shut it off like you do for when a computer crashes and not even the reset works, you press and hold the Wii power button until it shuts off and displays the red light, then you just boot it right up.
I noticed those wierd pauses and lags too, it's not much of an annoyance but it would definitely be better if they weren't there.

It is my first time playing an SSX game.
I still can't do any Ubertrick, but I'm still having lots of fun.

Just one gripe, this game does not support full widescreen, it has two vertical black bars on each end of the screen. Other games (Red Steel, etc...) have the same "problem".
Sonic, Zelda, and possibly others (that I can't remember now) have full widescreen.
Why do they choose to not do full widescreen, it looks ugly.

I always try the button hold, especially with the Opera crashes, but I had a definite plug-puller when SSX crashed.

I knew from watching some videos that there is supposed to be some kind of matrix slowdown, I will have to just keep on trying.

I tried changing the view mode on my TV and got the same results, I truly do think that some developers are not being able to get that full widescreen. Oh well, better luck next for them.
