As I've mentioned before, I don't own many third party DS games (Zoo Keeper, Drill Sprits and Bubble Bobble just for kicks)...

Well, today, we finally got in one of the third party games I'd been looking for. It's the three pack of Uno, Skip-Bo and Uno FreeFall (it appears to be some kind of Uno-based puzzlesque game). I'd come to terms with the fact that this game isn't a part of the Wi-Fi connection - in spite of the fact that it should have been. However, when we got it in stock today, I was checking it out... and there's no single-card download play! What the heck? I guess it was nice of them to at least put multi-player in there at all...

Pheonix Wright, Truama Center, Elite Beats, CastleVania, etc...get no love?!

Sounds like you don't want to do business with third parties.

Also, that uno games pales in comparison to Club House Games.

I have Clubhouse Games already.

Pheonix Wright has always sounded like the kind of game I'd like, but there's always something I'd rather spend money on when I see it. Never been a big Castlevania fan. Truama Center... just not my kind of game... EBA's published by Nintendo, so I don't count it.

Anywhoo, I really wanted this pack for Skip Bo...

Exactly.

When you combine this with companies like Square Enix not having an online option for FF:CC, ya really have to wonder what they're thinking...

I can understand not having single card download play for something big and complicated, but, seriously, what's the excuse for not having it in Uno/SkipBo?

I'm sure their thinking involves a cost benefit analysis. For every customer like you out there that this is important to, there's probably a dozen like me who don't ever use their DS for multiplayer, online or local.

I've played on Nintendo Wi-fi connection maybe a dozen times (with Mario Kart, before random matches stopped being fun because of snaking). I've played local multiplayer twice, both times just to see what it was like. It has absolutely no influence over my purchasing decisions.

As far as online goes, the dearth of 3rd party games supporting the WiFi Connection makes me think that it's either really difficult make it work, really expensive, or both.

Sounds like you've been burnt a fair bit by third parties on DS! (American versions of Mr. Driller and Bubble Bobble are both complete crap compared to the Japanese/Euro ones)

May I recommend Elf Bowling and King Kong? =)

At the time I got Mr. Driller, there just wern't any other games out there. It was during the initial drought when the DS came out - the only other games I had were Wario Ware: Touched and Super Mario 64 DS.

Zoo Keeper I picked up for $1.50 on clearance at a K-Mart. It's probably the best of the three.

Bubble Bobble I picked up *after* the discovery about the bug came out, just for kicks...

I bought my fifth third party game today (the fourth being Puzzle Quest, which I reccomend to almost anyone).

Scored a copy of Monopoly/Boggle/Yahtzee/Battleship.

I'd like to mention that, not only does it have DS Single Card Download Play on Battleship and Boggle, but it has "Hot Seat" play for all four games. Sweet. (not sure why Yahtzee couldn't be single card download play, but 'eh.)

I played it. It's pretty good. I think Hotel Dusk was way better though.

Anywhoo, I just read a post on another forum saying that the Uno/Skip-Bo cart does allow single card download play. Now I'm pissed I have to try and track down a cart because they decided not to put it on the back of the package.

Apparently that Monopoly combo cart is one of the rarest DS games in America. According to THE INTERNET at least, maybe you could sell it on eBay for eighty million dollars!

If you really do see it in places where you can buy it, I'd reccomend it. Looking on eBay, I saw a cart-only copy go for about $75 shipped.

I swear Australia must have gotten the majority of America's shipment (afterall, they just slapped a local rating sticker over the ESRB logo!) The game launched here late 2005 and catalogues pretty much focused on it as the big new DS game for some reason. At one point it even made it into the all format top ten chart! Atari must have been extremely confused at its success, next thing every store crammed the hell out of their DS sections with the game. It was like POKEMON.

But now even here in Monopoly DS success land, it's hard to find.

I've played around with it a bit. I think it was worth the purchase price of $30, but I can't see those fools paying $60+ for it... it's not that great. In fact, there's a lot that could have been improved... But for four great games </spam> it's a good deal at $30.

On another note, I've confirmed with someone who does own the U/SB/UFF cart that it does *not* have single card download play. So, I guess I don't have to get it now...

I have that Monopoly game, I got it right after it came out. I don't think I'd sell it. I really like Monopoly but never really have the time or other people to play it. This game gives me a full Monopoly with no real glitches, decent AI, and a save system, in portable form. Add to that that I also like the other 3 games and you've got a great package of board games. Now all I need is a DS game of Risk, as my GBA version doesn't have a save feature and the AI sucks. I know there are plenty of strategy games on the DS, with more to come, and I have most of them and am planning to get most of the new ones, but nothing would be cooler than a real game of Risk (except maybe if somehow Sillysoft created a version of Lux for the DS with Wi-Fi support to download user-created and new add-on maps).

Speaking of Monopoly glitches, I've noticed one that annoys the crap out of me.

When I play Monopoly, I try to get the Get Out of Jail Free cards. No reason, it's just something I do. I'll buy them from other players for twice their value (i.e.: $100), get them in trades and keep them when I do get them, paying to get out of jail instead.

So, I do the same think when playing this game. Except, occaisonally, when a player lands on Chance/Community Chest, they'll draw the Get out of Jail Free card even though I've got it and have never used it. Then, I lose it (unless, of course, it was I who landed on that space and drew the card...). It also annoys me that I can't buy/trade for this card from other players.

Anywhoo, speaking of DS games we'd like to see, I agree that a good Risk game on the DS (with Wi-Fi, of course) could be a good seller. Personally, I want Stratego on the DS. A lot.
