Yeah, it would have meant a lot more to Wii than to DS, but I think that's exactly why Square Enix put it on DS.  I don't think the company wants Wii doing "too well", and right now all indicators suggest that Wii is ready to kick some serious butt.
That's my opinion, not yours.

I rented dragon quest VII for PS1 and it was seriously one of the worst RPGs i've ever played. FF3(or 6 in Nippon) on SNES had better graphics. It was really sad.

I don't see square making that choice based on how well wii is doing currently.  PS3 is still getting final fantasy after all.  Square from what I've read is disgruntled with Sony, so I don't see why they wouldn't put DQ on the wii to help it further compete with Sony.  I mean face it, once FF13 hits japan PS3 by all means should sell like hot cakes.

Yeah but like I said, the Wii was just released, so I wouldn't be surprised if Square is waiting to see how the Wii and its games do before pursuing anymore games on the system. Besides, they already have FF CC and DQ swords for the launch window, so the support is there.

Also, remember that it took Square nearly a year for them to reveal Before Crisis FFVII for the PSP, and I wouldn't be surprised if one of the reasons was that they were doubting if the PSP was going to take off. Its true that the PS3 has FFXIII and its spin off games, but I'm guessing Sony is paying them off to have that game exclusive. I mean, considering that the PS3 has very little killer apps, canning the game would kill it for good.

And one last thing, DQ is far more popular than FF in Japan. Not only is DQ one of the first RPG series in Japan (the creator of Final Fantasy even admitted that he was extremely inspired by DQ), its so popular that they created a law that demands the DQ games to be released on a weekend because schools and companies fear that its employees and students buy the game and play hooky. Can you mention any other series that has this type of power?

We won't be seeing DQ on the VC.  The writing is already on the wall.  Unless Nintendo has a wicked tie-in ratio between Wii owners and DS owners that is.  If not then they'll port each way to the DS making maximum profit from the larger user base.  Then re-releasing them on the next Nintendo Console VC.

But I still want a release date on the Dragon Quest game for Wii.  (Swords something or another.)

so, I don't have to edit as Much.

but i read somewhere that SE may have an  of Mana MMO in the mix for Wii, and I think the site said it got its info from Famitsu.  Whether any of this is true, I don't know.

I mean this can't be true, or I died and went to heaven....
This is an extremely old rumor
Look in here and then hit "control F" and look up the word mana, or just scroll down to 07/14/2006

Ok, I'm with ryancoke on this one.

I played Dragon Quest VII too, and while I won't say it was the WORST RPG I've ever played, it was definitely far from being one of the best (and nowhere near the quality of most Final Fantasies, if you ask me). I really don't understand the hype surrounding this series, and the screens and videos don't look interesting at all. But that might be because I can't stand Akira Toriyama and his 'One Face Fits All' art style. So yeah, this is no megaton for me. DQ on DS might make waves in Japan, but I don't see it making much of a splash here in the states.

But don't get me wrong, it's SILL nice to see them supporting Nintendo. But I won't consider Square-Enix fully on board with Nintendo again until they put a serious, big-budget, mega-hyped (doesn't have to be the big FF or DQ, but something that seems like there's been just as much thought put into it, and not some doomed from the start side-project like FF:CC) RPG on a Nintendo home console.
