The PS2 version of Rayman Raving Rabbids
« on: December 06, 2006, 01:36:57 AM »
How does that work? At first I thought it was the result of an outdated database entry on Amazon but now it's in stores so there's no doubt it's real. How does that work? Isn't the game optimized for the Wii controller? Wouldn't that be clunky as hell on the PS2?

wait... so it actually did come out? I thought it was a miss-print in gamestops database as well.
I think that might be a record for shortest exclusiveness.

The leaderboards press release says 120 "challenges" (I think that means minigames) but the PS2 box says 70 minigames...

Shortest exclusive indeed, the PS2 will have it exclusive for about 2-3 days and then the Wii is released.

That is weird...Ubi did make it clear that the game would go multi console, but they haven't even shown screens of the multi console versions. None of the websites I go to even mention the PS2 version of RRR.

Are you sure the game is released?

EDIT: I just did my research on Gamestop and its true.

Here is a rundown of the release dates on the other consoles according to GS:
XBOX 360: March 2007
Nintendo DS: March 2007
GBA: Available now
PC: December 2006
PS2: Available now

You can tell that the Wii was the most advertised of them all. Like I said, we all knew that it would be coming to all consoles at one point, but not this soon, much less they come out right after the Wii version.

I am wondering how the games work in the multi console versions. From what I heard, some of the games are too complex to be played on a normal controller.

How long until a Sony fanboy says the PS2 version has better graphics than the Wii version?

According to GameFAQs this may be one of the least exclusive games ever at some point in time.  It's listed there for a whopping 10 different systems!

Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, GameCube, Xbox, PS2, GBA, DS, PSP, as well as the PC!

Three current-gen consoles, three last-gen consoles, three handhelds, and the PC...isn't that pretty much everything available right now, except for maybe the Mac?  o_0

AFAIK the handheld games are normal platformers.

Yes, the handhelds are true to the platforming roots.

As near as I can tell, the other games are going to be simple button mashers. The novelty of these minigames is just nonexistent without the Wiimote.

I imagine you could get some fun out of them, but it certainly won't be like the Wii version.  I'd actually be interested in playing it just to see what it's like.

I wonder why the 360 and PS3 versions are so late compared to PS2?  Is it that much extra work to finish them, or did Nintendo and Ubi make a deal?

Maybe it will be a platformer on the 360 and PS3 that would be interesting.

His avatar is of Shirley Manson.  He's obviously a Garbage fan.  He just doesn't appreciate being referred to by his avatar.  It would be like we we call called Pro Daisy or if we called you weird eight-bit blue mushroom thing.

Good luck with that, I don't even know what mine is called.

The PC version is less than half the price of the Wii version it seems (28€ vs. 60€ I think). Might be worth trying...

I am curious about how you would refer to me...because my avatar is literally Spak-Spang my screen name.  so HA!!!

But, back on topic, has anyone actually played the PS2 version of this game?  I am curious how it turned out and how they attempted to convert these very specificly designed minigames to fit the PS2 controller...and keep it fun.
