How do I play video on the Wii?
« on: December 03, 2006, 03:25:41 AM »
I know I can play video on the Wii. I downloaded Wii Video 9, coverted the video and then transfered it to my SD card. They did not show up in the photo channel.
What am I do wrong?
Has anyone had success with this? How did you go about it?
Thanks for your help!

You're sure you copied the converted video and not the original, right? It saves the converted video to (assuming C is your local HDD and you used the default settings) C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Video Converter\Videos\Wii\MJPEG.

Well, I opened my SD card and the videos aren't in there, so I tried to drag them to the card and every time I click on the video in the MPEG folder it freezes.
So, something is happening there. I will try to reinstall the program...again.

I used that program.  Even though it came out before the Wii did, it works fine for me.

Hey guys. So after getting my Wii, I tested out the video playback on the Photo Channel. I had converted an Arrested Development episode a while back using Wii Video 9, so I put it on my SD card. I've read before many times that the maximum video length allowed in the Channel is only 15 minutes. I think it was Caliban that tried it out, and confirmed this.

However, for some reason I was able to watch all 22 minutes of the episode. Is this something that was snuck in during a recent firmware update? Does it still not work for some people?

Also, has anyone found another converter that has better picture quality?

There is an online flash site that has full episodes and it works with Nintendo Wii's internet channel, though it is illegal so I will not tell you where, or what it is. Anyone who has decent google searching skillz though should be able to find it.

Well, phooey.  I tried converting the latest Transformers move teaser trailer in Wii Video 9 and it doesn't work.

It's probably a problem with the file, though.

Here's a tip for watching Flash videos using the internet channel. Not all sites let you choose fullscreen, and if you zoom on the video, it doesn't zoom as far as it would if you were zooming in on text. The trick is to zoom in on a blank space of the page, or a smaller image or some text, then slide over to the video and it will be much bigger (usually). Just thought I'd pass it along. Now go watch some porn.
