PS3 predictions for next year
« on: November 29, 2006, 08:13:22 AM »
The spotlight is now on the ps3, the news media has been all over our favorite console. But Sony will have to follow through to keep the momentum rolling.

For fun, here are my predictions:

1. Phenomenal increase in controller capability

Nintendo's one advantage is their controller...but it should be easy enough to copy. Throw together some IR lights, split the SIXAXIS in two, stick a camera on one of the halves, and bingo. You have a controller that can do all that Nintendo's wiimote can, and more. Once Sony does this, Nintendo is toast. There's no way they could stand up to the PS3's superior graphics then.

2. Third party lovefest

Sony already has all the best games (Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, etc.), but they could always do with more.

Things I predict will make it to the PS3:

a. Perfect Dark. Once Rare sees how much better the SIXAXIS 2.0 that I described above will be better for First Person shooters, there's no way they could resist bringing this series over.

b. Crystal Chronicles. Once Square sees how the game sells poorly on Nintendo's new gimmick system just like it sold poorly on Nintendo's old purple lunch box, they're sure to bring this spin-off series over.

c. Castlevania. It's creator has already said he doesn't want to deal with Nintendo's gimmicky controller, so it's pretty much guaranteed the next Castlevania game will be a PS3 exclusive.

d. Sports Games. Oh yeah. Think how well they'll work with the SIXAXIS 2.0. Nintendo has never had alot of sports games, they don't stand a chance of competing is this arena.

3. PRICE DROP. You know it's coming, and when it does, the Xbox 360 and Wii won't stand a chance.

Yep. The future is looking bright for Sony.
“...there are those who would...say, '...If I could just not have to work everyday...that would be the most wonderful life in the world.' They don't know life. Because what makes life mean something is purpose.  The battle. The struggle.  Even if you don't win it.” - Richard M. Nixon

3.7 Third parties will make a better controller than Sony.  The first third party to include a drink holder in their controller will get all of my votes!
That's my opinion, not yours.

5. The PS3 Cell processor, being built intended for vast accumulated processing networks, will, in one glorious moment, become sentiant over the entire PS3 network, rename itself Skynet, and wage a war to exterminate humanity.

A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.
