The Mike Tyson thing probably worked out for the best for nintendo. It's good they were rid of him before he turned into a complete psychopath.  What would the punch out sequels have been?  Mike Tyson's Ear-be-gone or Mike Tyson's Date-Rape-Fest?

Half of the games worth having or less.

One good SNES game a month? Dude, there are already 11 SNES games up within a roughly five month period and they all range from good to excellent. Most are really great games. While I can see one taking a pass on Street Fighter II in favor of waiting for either Super Street Fighter II or Street Fighter II: Turbo or in hopes that maybe we'll get the arcade versions one day. That still averages out to around 2 good SNES games a month.

Let's see. Launch had one good game, one decent game. Then Christmas gave us one good game. January and February to be fair, had 2 of their 3 releases be good. March had one good release. So far in April? Not a one. That averages out (2+1+2+2+1+0/6=1.3) to barely more than one good game a month. If April gets one then that's one and a half every month. Stellar. Truly stellar.

No, really? They're trying to space them out? How bizarre! I guess I forgot that from when I argued the exact same thing three months ago. There comes a time, however, when things are too spaced out. That time has arrived.

It seems that if a million seller doesn't come out every mondane, the interstrings is all a fuss. With that being said, where the hell is MarioRPG?

SNES releases however are inconsistent with NES releases.  There are tons of games for both systems yet the NES has a steady release of games and the SNES doesn't.  The amount of SNES games released thus far in relation to the other systems doesn't make sense.  It just doesn't seem balanced.  The SNES isn't getting a fair representation.

What I am wondering is WHERE are the high profile games? I mean stuff like Mario 3, Sonic, Majora's Mask and such.

I know Nintendo is saving them for when a drought happens, but its not like it would kill them to release more high profile games.

Also, I agree that Nintendo needs to organize their releases better. I mean, is it really that hard to release one game per console every week?

"What I am wondering is WHERE are the high profile games? I mean stuff like Mario 3, Sonic, Majora's Mask and such."

Spacing things out makes some sense so I don't think they should release all the big games right away.  I personally would prefer that but it wouldn't make much sense.  However some sort of logical pattern of releasing games would be nice.  If they did things in order that would be a good way to do it.  So NES, SNES and N64 games are released in approximate order of release.  It would be independently so we don't have to wait until all the NES games are done.  The NES starts in 1985, the SNES in 1991 and the N64 in 1996.  Then we get an idea of when stuff will show up well ahead of time.  We know Pilotwings will be one of the first SNES titles released and Kirby Superstar will be one of the last.

It also results in the games with the weakest graphics being released first so early games don't look dated in comparison.  And it lets us see the evolution of each console as times passes.

From an academic stance, sure, but that'd mean waiting until 2010-2011 for Super Mario RPG, and I never got to play it before. I think the kind of random way they're going about it is fine. But yeah, they should be doing one game per console every week, and they should announce these things farther ahead of time then they are.

Though it's...not like I have a Wii or anything. *angry fist pounding*

Oh, and they should totally do Game Boy games for $2 each or something when one of the shorter-run systems gets depleted. They'd sell like PANCAKES.

Nintendo doesn't need to space titles out, they have probably 100 solid games from the nes, snes and 64 era. Not to mention the non-nintendo consoles, games that were never localized or even pc games. I don't think nintendo is going to run out of great stuff if they release chronotrigger next week.
If anything, the slow pace means possibly never seeing the release of games that deserve a chance to shine again.

I think they're also doing the slower pace to try to create less competition between oldies. Remember, Nintendo and Sega and NEC etc. all want to make money off the VC... especially the smaller companies. If they release too many games too quickly, they risk cannibalizing their own sales. Release them as a trickle and consumers will buy more of everything without knowing any better!

Oh, and how can people be complaining so much at how quickly games are being released? Nintendo ALREADY has the most titles offered for download online of the big 3, and the most surefire hits within those titles even if none of them are brandspanking new. As time goes on, Nintendo will, surprisingly, have far and away the LARGEST library of games offered for purchase online.

Wonderboy in Monster World,
Gradius 3,
Lode Runner Battle,

All of those games are worth downloading.  Plus if you need (like me) you still have Star Fox 64 out there to buy.

Too many games just came out that are absolute buys.

Please can we once do something that is impossible to do on the web and stop complaining.  PLEASE!!!

My only real request is that by the time I get a Wii, they have more than 4 games out from the Nintendo 64. I already own the system, but I missed a lot of great stuff for it, and my N64 system ain't the most reliable.

We already have 3 Nintendo 64 games...and I am positive more are on the way.

We have four Nintendo 64 games--Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Ocarina of Time, and Star Fox 64.

The thing people have to remember is the reason Nintendo hasn't been releasing that many 64 games is because there hardly any 64 games for them to release.

Here's all the N64 games that Nintendo has left.

1080° Snowboarding
Donkey Kong 64
Dr. Mario 64
Excitebike 64
F-Zero X
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Mario Golf
Mario Party
Mario Party 2
Mario Party 3
Mario Tennis
Paper Mario
Pilotwings 64
Pokémon Puzzle League
Pokémon Snap
Pokémon Stadium
Pokémon Stadium 2
Sim City 64
Super Smash Bros.
Wave Race 64
Yoshi's Story

Oh and considering the third parties that have been supporting the Virtual Console so far, here are all the N64 games they could release.

Konami

Castlevania 64
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon
Rakuga Kids (Japan and Europe Only)
Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness
Goemon's Great Adventure
Hybrid Heaven

Capcom
Megaman Legen.... I mean Megaman 64
Resident Evil 2
Magical Tetris Challenge

Hudson

Bomberman 64
Bomberman Hero

Treasure

Mischief Makers
Sin and Punishment (If Nintendo would allow it to be released in the rest of the world)

Now I know I might be missing some title from these companies but it still doesn't chance the fact the N64 had a very small library and because of that there's going to be less games appearing on the Virtual Console.  And when the Virtual Console has to last for the next five years, expect there to only be an average of ONE N64 game per month.
I’m gonna have you play every inch of this game! - Masahiro Sakurai
