Topic: Can't turn the Wii off using the remote

I've found that I can't turn off my Wii console using the remote. I only have the one remote synced to the console, the one that came with the system, and I can use the power button on the remote to turn the console on, but for some reason it won't turn the console off. The Wii manual says on page 20 that "Only a Wii Remote in Standard Mode can turn the console power ON or OFF". My remote is synced via Standard Mode, and as I mentioned it will turn the console on, but not off. I have never even used any other remotes with this console. Has anyone else had this problem?

Do you? I didn't see anything about that in the manual.... maybe I didn't look hard enough. lawl indeed.
