They sold 455K last month in the US...I don't think it's that big of a stretch. Mario Kart will sell a lot of games, but I don't see any large boost in actual console sales happening.

Are there numbers for April? They sold 300K or so in March after a marketing tsunami for Titanfall and still got beat by the PS4. Bill Gates is openly talking about spinning off Xbox. I'm of the opinion that the console space is not looking good from a creative or business standpoint, despite the weird phantom success of the PS4, which I thought would be flagging by now (nearly tied with the WiiU in Japan!)

True, TitianFall pushed those numbers high and is to be expected great indeed. I think MK8, E3 and whatever big game they drop in June/July*,  coupled with a "price adjustment"  and the momentum should carry the 2nd place position for a while.

I don't know I was getting info from some article and now the numbers of changed...and now they are listing VGChartz as a source, so I take back all of those numbers - however, Xbox One is still outselling Wii U by what, 2 to 1? 3 to 1? I'm not saying those are good numbers (compared to PS4), but they are certainly better than the Wii U, no matter how you compare them (and it costs $150-200 more).

This will work for Smash 4 (both WiiU and 3DS) & Poke'Mon (remake) and an unannounced title that sorta plays like Diablo.

My wallet just imploded! This is why XBOXONE will never catch WiiU

Nintendo would be one of the few IPs where I would want to invest in figurines related to a game.

Knowing Nintendo the best figurines will only be available in Japan.

I think it is a smart move, as they will make money off the Nintendo fans who aren't willing to buy their console, assuming the figures are sold separately, and they will also get the current fanbase fired up with interesting new games, plus make a **** ton of money on the side to smooth things over and get the go mobile people to shut up for a while. Also making these things work with Wii U, 3DS, and promising to make them a substantial part of their business going forward keeps the collectors locked in.

You guys are acting like the number is 36 million. 3.6 million is still a pathetically low number for a system that isn't even two years old yet, which is why I think it's reasonable. It doesn't matter if that's more than 50% of the current overall sales, as it isn't like that number is 61 million. It's only 6.17 million. There are still a lot of people to sell the system to, which seems entirely feasible with the system's two biggest games launching this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mario Kart 8 hype is causing 3D World to rise.  Since Japan isn't getting a bundle like the West, anyone who wants a Wii U for Mario Kart has a reason to buy one right now.  Nintendo started airing the ads for Mario Kart in Japan last week, which is the same week we see 3D World got a slight increase in sales.

So if the hype for Mario Kart is already doing it, then it should get a pretty good boast when the game is released.

I am all for it being a success in Japan but it needs to sell here as well. To be honest this game might be more of a game changer than I originally thought though as the new bundle deal is really a good bargain for those on the fence, its like get the game and get three free games or something like that right?

If you have to practically give it away to get people to pay, then by all means Nintendo, do what you must.

If Mario Kart is the nudge that gets the Wii U rolling, then great, but it needs to roll uphill, so they better follow it up with some more solid quality titles, or risk settling in it's funk again.

Hell no I'm being dead up. This was in reference to my earlier post about thE XBOXONE never catching WiiU in sales. XB1 did 115k and WiiU is going to be around 60-75k. This was for the april AFTER TitanFall. I think people really underestimate how well mariokart sells. Couple this with whats coming in the next 6-8weeks and I promise you, as much as it seems like I'm talking out of my muffler, "I'm not...no I'm Not"

115k units 6months after launch with no supply issues and a Nonexistent asian market? I'm not sure this isn't just what the market is going to be for the next 18-24 months. No way they get into China in the next 18months while Nintendo should be there in within FY2015(some kinda wiiu, maybe not a fully realized console, we will see.).

Also 115k is the lowest April for an XBOX console EVER. If Titanfall was Halo5 then we'd possibly be having a different story but As I was once told:

"If my aunt had a dick, she'd be my uncle!"

This is not to say nintendo is free and clear to dominate sales and usher in a new era of hope and cheat codes, I just think folks over estimate the size of the so called next/new-gen footprint. People have so many avenues to digitally entertain themselves, I could be wrong, but I'm not.

I don't think Microsoft cares about the Asian market, as they obviously do not care about Microsoft. 115k in sales is pretty low, but the price drop will likely help sales. Keep in mind that Microsoft was in second place with those sales (according to NPD), which puts (maybe a little bit of assumption) the 3DS in third and Wii U in fourth.

Mircosoft doesn't care about the asian market like I don't care about Katy Perry. Ok bad analogy but you get my point. They don't care cause they don't have a shot but given the opportunity they would try.

(side note: I just need like 20min in a room with K.P. and she would be my next ex wife)

The reason I bring up the asian market is the installed base and nothing more. Barring the 2nd coming, Europe is lost to Nintendo like Asia is lost to MS, and even if MS doubles WiiU sale in the Americas it would take another 8-12 months to surpass them seeing at last count WiiU had a 1.2m console lead. (math is iffy)

I could be wrong but doesn't MarioKart have the best attach rate of any game Nintendo ever(not called wii sports) 100million MK games. People love this stuff.

Alright the Exchange rate is 1.68281 Dollars to a Pound.  The cheapest in stock version they have is 239 Pounds so 402 Dollars and 20 Cents.

I wouldn't really consider that giving it away.

Yeah that should have been WiiU.

I was expecting to see something more along the lines of 149 Pounds.
