Well then, that means that every system with a hardware count was represented this week, except for the GBA

I hear that Dewy's Adventure bombed with around 1500 copies sold... waaaaaaah.

Nintendo needs to cross-advertise this game because Konami is just sending it out to die, then use it as an excuse to not release games on the Wii. GRRRR...

Also, I hear that Forever Blue (Endless Ocean to us) did about 10k which is a success considering the previous game did 30k lifetime sales. Unfortunately, people are saying that the game is riddled with game ending bugs and desperately needs a recall. Oh well, at least they'll have it fixed for America won't they?

10,000 is INCREDIBLY disappointing for such a game. However maybe people are just waiting for those bugs to be ironed out. At least it'll break into the top 50 though unlike poor poor Dewy. Looks like 360/PS3 is pretty much the confirmed place for any hardcore games to be headed from now on, a real shame the hardcore Wii audience didn't step up. Or maybe they did but the percentage of hardcore Wii owners is just that low.

Well the two previous Ever Blue games only sold about 3k and 1.5k on their first day(Forever Blue first day sales are in the DS Sales Thread) so its actually a very good start considering that. First week sales are going to be around 15k since there is a bug that can shut the game down 100% of the time. But I'm still not sure how Nintendo is gonna handle that situation since doing a recall might really hurt the sales and selling a game that you can't play might damage your credibility.

Nah i'm serious. Dewy is the exact same as these dweebs on forums said Wii HAD to have, a new high quality original IP game by a third party that takes advantage of Wiis hardware, and then it comes out and nobody buys it. Why should third parties listen to what anyone says now? They wont. Wii owners said they'd buy games like Dewy, but it looks to be a big fat lie. Think of the poor developers that were tricked.

Oh well there's still time and other territories for it to succeed in.

Sometimes it takes time for games to pick up excitement and sell.  Word of mouth has to spread.  I think we should wait for around a month to see how Dewy is doing.

As well, I have the question of whether or not the game is any good, because that can affect sales as well.

Yeah I agree completely.

That's the risk of making a new IP and why companies tend to shy away from it. It's hard to establish something new but in time if its good it can definitely pick up a following and be successful.

We'll have to wait and see how Dewy does in the US where Elebits had a surprisingly strong following.

But I mean, they can't ALL be winners.
Elebits was proof an original IP can be a success on the Wii, but maybe Dewy is just a little too screwy for any kind of mass appeal.

Red Steel,
Raving Rabbids, (Yes, it is a Rayman sequel but also entirely different)
Elebits,

All these games prove that new IPs can make it on the Wii, even if they are not great games.

Heck, the Wii launch with Nintendo projects was mostly original IPs.

I think the problem with Dewy might have been poor advertisement on Konami's part.  Now I don't live in Japan but when a game sells that low, something has to be up.  It's like last gen when companies would quietly release their Gamecube titles with little to no advertisement so no one even knew the games existed.  Then they'd go on to blame Nintendo for the games failure, even though it was the Nintendo fans that actually bought the game because they were the ONLY people that knew the damn thing even existed in the first place.

They've been treating the Nintendo userbase like crap since N64 it seems. I did buy Castlevania and Hybrid Heaven, but they could have released at least something along the lines of a AAA title somewhere with Nintendo in the past 15 years.

(Yeah, I have no clue about the handheld games, so if there is an awesome handheld on GBA by Konami, then its the exception.)

Actually they treat the handheld's like crap as well.  Just read my old topic related to this matter here.

Even though it's the Nintendo audience and the GBA and DS that have been keeping the Castlevania series alive over the last several years, IGA says that the Sony audience is where the real fanbase is at and that us Nintendo fans are all young kids that are scared of Ayami Kojima artwork.

To Konami, anything that's not a Sony system is pretty much second rate and not even worthy of their time.  Of course after Metal Gear Solid 4 bombs horrible because the PS3 is pretty much a dead system and everyone at the company losses their shirt, maybe then they'll rethink their policies on who to give support to.

Dewy's Adventure is hardly interesting at all to be quite honest.

But I think Konami did show *some* love during the N64 days... I actually enjoyed Castlevania (and it's re-release, Legacy of Darkness) as well as Hybrid Heaven - which I thought was pretty innovative and still has potential to be a solid IP in the hands of one of Konami's premiere AAA dev teams.  Let's not forget those two wonderful Goemon games either...  But now that I think of it, I don't even own a single Konami game on the Cube... and I have over 50 Cube games.   (I might have to double check on not having a Konami game, but I'm pretty sure I don't.)

But nowadays it seems like we don't get any respect from Konami.  And I say, let them focus on the PS3 - too bad for them - cause MGS4 isn't gonna do anything for that systems sales.  Yeah, we'll see a spike, but nothing with legs.

Plus we get our own non-Mario themed DDR game which sounds like it'll have a lot more songs than Mario DDR.

In fact, they have released more this year for the Wii than the gamecube in any year, and all of their GC games were ports or dumbed down versions of their popular franchises.  I personally think they are actually starting to step up for the Wii rather than treat it like crap.
