Hey... when the hardware numbers come out today/tomorrow, how about a return of the Pac-man pie chart? Or its that just soooo 30 pages ago?

I would have to request it from Cheesmeister over at NeoGAF cause he's the one that makes it but I don't see why not.

p.s. My computer is working again. Ceric go ahead and send that new parser whenever you're ready.

Placement is no big suprise, Hoped the Wii would do a little better than that, but still fantastic. Amazed at the PSP numbers. This is what a decent library will do for ya.

PSP numbers are obviously because of the price drop.  The real shame is that games don't seem to be moving hardware, which should send red flags up at every development house.

That's right I forgot about the PSP price drop. Although since the stripped out the extras of the value pack, it's not a big savings. Perceived value worked in their favor. I assumed people were buying games for it, just so spread out among the titles that the PSP games weren't making the sales charts.

Fun with Numbers has been updated even though for some reason it rendered fugly so I'm going to have to look into that.
I also updated the Media Create Numbers on the page before with the rest of them and the hardware numbers that Bill has.

GBA lost to PS3 this month...

Looks like Nintendo really needs to get more hit games coming out for the GBA if they expect their third-pillar strategy to pay off. The NDS and Wii are shattering their respective competition, but with the GBA the PS3 is starting to make inroads and Nintendo shouldn't allow this. Come on NIntendo, get more GBA games out before it is too late!

Hmm, Maybe a GBA revision and/or price drop would turn things around? [/sarcasm off]

The Third pillar is idea is dead.  Unless Nintendo is going to be creating another handheld soon.

I think the whole third pillar strategy was created just in case the DS failed.  Well you can see it didn't fail.

I still think its funny that here in the states the numbers are much much closer.

Here are the two real stories here:

April NPD PSP Sales:  183k
May NPD PSP Sales:  221K

The price drop pushed a few more units, but not as big of a jump as Sony was probably hoping for.

April NPD 360 Sales:  174k
May NPD 360 Sales:  155K

The introduction of the Elite did practically nothing to alter the sales of the 360.  To me, that's pretty surprising.  I was expecting to see a temporary increase in sales for May, followed by a return to normal levels in June.

You also have to add that the PS3 dropped another 9000 units from last month.  Though I guess all systems except the PSP dropped (I smell Sony spin here), so it's not all that imporant.

Great!

I once feared that Sony or Microsoft would win the next generation. but now it seems that my fears are simply useless since Nintendo indeed has become what I wished for!

I thank the great videogame God for this, since in my opinion Nintendo is the only videogame company who deserves to be the No. 1!
Nintendo is the originator of videogame innovation! The Great Mover of the Industry. Past, present and future. Rightfully, the King of Videogaming!

There's a part of me that simply cannot cope with Nintendo's newfound success. That part of me refuses to accept reality and is slowly growing insane.

...just FYI, so when I finally snap and become some bipolar puddle of glippidy-glop, you'll know what happened.

Why would you be unable to cope with Nintendo being in the lead? This was the way it used to be, so it isn't really unprecedented.

I am really happy Nintendo is number 1 right now because I can rub that fact in the face of people who a few years ago kept saying Nintendo was going to go the way of Sega and Atari. Well, not only did they NOT go the way of those companies, they've actually risen back to the top. When their hardware accounts for 57% of sales for the month, then you know the Golden Age of Nintendo dominance has returned.
