Nunchuck where art thou?
« on: November 18, 2006, 09:08:15 PM »
I'm not sure if you guys have experienced it but there seems to be a big shortage of nunchucks, at my local Fred Meyer I was 52nd in line (They had 90), and when I got inside they still had extra Wiimotes but NO nunchucks. It seems quite lame that Nintendo would produce so little in the way of nunchucks (unless my situation was unique) when it is basically a requirement to buy with the Wimote!

Fred Meyer failed, IMO, on Nunchuks and Zelda. 26 Zeldas to 54 Wiis at my store? Lame. I didn't get Zelda or an extra Nunchuk. I'm pissed, honestly. All that wait time and no Zelda. I have to go find one at a Target or TRU or game store, but GOOD LUCK.

Heh. My location (Fred Meyers, I worked the launch) actually ran out of virtual cosole controllers of all things! We still have nunchucks. Also about 10-15 copies of Zelda are left over from our stock of 48. I talked to quite a few people who said they had already preordered it from EB Games though.

We has 74 Wiis and the line had surpassed that number around 9:45pm. I was impressed by my town's good tastes!   : )

Well Fred Meyer was great besides that, they were orderly and above all POLITE, constantly going outside checking the line. Wish they had extra nunchucks though (I checked walmart after and they had none either), but I did get a Classic Controller (i'm sorry but that is one hot looking controller lol).

My GameStop was unable to fulfill my Classic Controller pre-order. :-/ No estimated time for the next shipment. I got my (reserved) nunchuck just fine.
Thanks for listening.

Glad I made itto line up at 9AM. Scored two extra controllers & nunchucks, Zelda, Excite Truck, the Classic Controller, and a points card. (And the Wii, of course).May be hard to find a 4th Wiimote though. But I am pretty darn happy with 3.

I really wonder why.. it can't be that hard or expensive to produce.

I have yet to pick up my Wii in less than three hours but when I pre-ordered (oops, I mean when my awesome mom pre-ordered when I went to work), we got two Classic Controllers but we couldn't reserve a Nunchuk for some reason.  Hopefully I can buy one right there today at the same time I pick up my Wii and the other things that could be reserved.

I told you people that controllers would be harder to get.
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

My nunchucks were the last available at the two scores I got them at: Target and Toys R Us. *phew*

I noticed that Nintendo did ship fewer numbchucks then they did controllers. The launch store I went to had 12 controllers but about 7 numbchucks and 4 classic controllers. The three other stores I went to today when I went to pick up my pre-ordered games from Gamestop (I was in a different county getting my Wii at the time, I didn't even get my Wii before they closed up, I called to see how much longer they were going to take...)
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.

Yeah I work at a Fred Meyer in Spokane Washington and I had a good experieance, I waited about 8 hours in line and they checked up on us every 20minutes and also brought us hot chocolate and apple cider twice.  As well as taking our names and allowing us to leave in 30 minute increments.  My Fred Meyer sold me Zelda and Red Steel a few days earlier, so I got my games.   However spare nunchucks and wiimotes were hard to find the next day.  Found mine at shopko.  Good luck all.

Hey WalkingTheCow, those Wii Play shirts are sweet huh? Our electronics department got like 1 hundred of them...

I've seen every game at multiple stores here in the Portland/Beaverton Oregon area.  I have yet to see a nunchuck for sale though.  It's really hard to play boxing when you don't have two sets of nunchucks.  If anybody knows of any in the area, please let me know, that would be great.
