This is a good game. It feels much more full than most Zeldas. It doesn't feel quite so much like dungeon to dungeon play, you have significant objectives in between (objectives that amount to more than go here to get item to open dungeon). I'm just about to go to the second dungeon, though.

I love the characters too, they're so well designed.

He's talking about the one in the fountain.  It's in between the left and right stair cases coming down from the exit.

Sad to say, I don't have a clue on that one either.

Yeah, I noticed an area to use the same item that Bill is talking about (hookshot), but that only showed me that there is yet another chest in that area. I tried crossing the rope as a wolf, but that leads nowhere. So now there are two chests that I have no clue how to find in that area...

Oh, and I just found the roll game. It is so freaking tough. The first levels are fine, but the seventh (with the two red sloping sections) is just torture.
Thanks for listening.

MarioAllStar, if you hate level seven on roll game, you will LOATH level eight.

Shall go after those chests sometime, though I imagine they just contain rupees I really don't need.  Must find the other seven poes sometime, though.

I just beat the game tonight (er, this morning).  Some random thoughts:

ball and chain = best new Zelda item ever!!

magic armor (tied with the cave of ordeals prize) = biggest dissapointment ]:<

final Ganon fight = best boss (even though it was really easy, I was so happy that it was a no-nonsense 1 on 1 sword fight rather than some stupid gimmick)

I had no problem with needing 5 heart pieces to complete a new heart.  I always like finding heart pieces.  I hate how many chests have rupees in them.  I'd be wandering around, find a hidden chest and then, what?  Oh goodie, more money!  But your giant wallet's still full 'cause there's nothing to spend any more rupees on!  Better put it back for now lol!

I'd like to keep playing, but I'm not sure that there's anything left to do that's actually interesting (trying to land on a tiny, moving platform while floating through the air with a chicken in hand with a camera that WON'T LET ME LOOK DOWN just to get a heart piece isn't exactly my idea of fun).  Oh well.  I thought nearly all of the dungeons were quite thoroughly excellent while they lasted.

Btw, seeing Colin with a sword and shield during the ending credits made me wish Nintendo'd make a TP spinoff starring Colin as a spiritual successor to Majora's Mask.

On various comments about the depth of storytelling in Zelda, I personally think the series is pretty good in this respect.  It gives just enough detail to keep things moving along and relies more on the world to tell the story.  I somewhat agree that certain areas like the Castle in the Sky and the Twighlight Realm could have used a little more depth in terms of the lore and the characters (it would be nice if you could talk to the Twili and Oocca) but the series has always been more about the locations themselves than the stories behind them.  I like how it leaves me free to tell whatever stories I want.

In spite of all that pro-Zelda talk, I thought Twighlight Princess' story was a bit vague and/or confusing at times.  Wind Waker seemed more cohesive.

Oh yeah, and props to whoever pointed out to me that Midna said the mirror was evil, I forgot about that bit.  That part of the ending sits a lot better with me now.
That's my opinion, not yours.

I'm still on level seven. I'm about ready to give up all hope and never touch Zelda again. Help me. ;_;

Edit: By the way, thanks for the help Bill. Those were some pretty tough chests to reach, especially the second one.

Go and play some Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz, finish it or at least try to, then go back to level seven in TP and tell me how you were willing to lose all hope on Zelda.

I'm on level 8 btw, but I know I can do it because I reached the last pit with ease, finishing it is another story altogether.

I beat the level! Oh man, it was a total fluke. I did not deserve to beat it, but the ball somehow remain on the track after the second slope.

Edit: I just saw level 1-8. Abandon all hope, ye who try this level.

Both Monkey Ball and the Rollgoal mini-game have poor tilt controls. For a controller like the Wii remote, this should be a no-brainer. Somebody needs to nail tilt controls for the Wii. Until then, I hold the position that the remote almost gives too much precision for games like this. (Note: My opinions are probably influenced by my present anger at the Rollgoal game.)

Can somebody with the GameCube version comment on the Rollgoal mini-game?
Thanks for listening.

Yeah, I spent probably over 600 rupees altogether on the rollgoal game.  I eventually beat all the levels and got the prize, though I cannot use the frog lure worth a crap.

I've only played the first level, but it was fairly easy, if anything is just time consuming, in case the track is too hard I guess all I need to do is make really small steps, for that game I can see the remote being incredibly difficult but closer to the real thing, those labyrinth games are hard.

I should have gotten into the roll goal game earlier to spend my money.  I refused to leave full chests behind so I would put on the magical armor until I could take the rupees out.  I refused to leave chests behind so I hated the rupee chest in the death mountain dungeon that you couldn't get without the hookshot.  I tried to get that chest for over an hour until I decided to come back later.

The ability (more like requirement) to put rupees back in the chest sort of bothered me at first. For the first few dungeons, I did not want to finish them until there was nothing left on the map to collect. Well, when you have a 300 rupee wallet, that fills up pretty quickly. It took me so long to figure out where the wallet upgrades were. After I did, I got them both very quickly.
Thanks for listening.

Finally beat the game. 53 hours in. Don't buy into the hype.

NOT the best Zelda ever. Flaws, overreached on storytelling... etc.

Oh, and Midna is HOT... as an imp. As a twilii she looks right out of fifth element. Impish Midna is... she's got HIPS. AND A BADONKADONK!

... but yeah... the game's got quite a few flaws that actually really come out in the second half. The first 20 hours or so are actually extremely well done. If it takes Nintendo 4 years to make a game like this, then I for one am not too worried about this being "the last Zelda of its kind" because they're really having problems if it takes them four years to make something with so many... minor flaws. In quite a few ways actually, I rate it below previous Zelda games I found unimpressive like WW and MM. This game would've been an utter disaster if it had been released last year, a bigger, worse disaster than even Wind Waker. Something is up with Nintendo's internal teams.

Oh, and not saving game after the credits? PHAIL.

If you thought MM and WW were unimpressive then your opinion is automatically null and void.  MM and WW were two of the most impressive games I have ever played.
