Torchwood
« on: November 09, 2006, 07:14:24 AM »
I was watching the first episode and I'm at the part where he's going through the different Torchwoods.  He goes: "...Torchwood 4 just sort of went missing and now we're too Torchwood 5"

Points to anyone who gets that reference.

Fairly good for a pilot episode.  I'm hoping that the later episodes will be more in the vain of the Dr. Who Universe that its set in.
Though I did notice they have a fascination with being on the roof of cool buildings.

The Second Episode is good but it cements that this show is not for kids.

That's a reference to Babylon 5.

Is this show going to join Doctor Who on U.S. television?

Edit:  After some quick reading, it looks like no U.S. network would be willing to touch this series.

Not even Sci-Fi... or UPN oh wait they merged with WB.  That sort of stinks.

CBC has the exclusive rights to air the premiere of torchwood. The show is very british.

With regards to more links to the whoniverse itself, wait until ep 4 (assuming the first episode was a double)...

I think SciFi will wind up picking it up after Season 2 of Doctor Who airs.
If they will air Battlestar then they will air Torchwood.

Oh and incase anyone is still scratching their heads about the Babylon 5 reference:
With Torchwood 4 being "missing" and Captain Jack saying "we'll find it someday", this could be Russell T. Davies' tribute to J. Michael Strazynskis show "Babylon 5". Of the 4 previous Babylon stations, Babylon 4 disappeared mysteriously - it was later found to have dragged into the past by a time rift. Strange parallels here to Torchwood 3 and Cardiff's mysterious Rift energies - will this be a major threat later on?
