...of 2007.

I'm excited because the only one of those games that I've actually played is Duck Hunt. Sad, I know.

Confirmation of light gun games on Wii!  Best news I've read all day.  I hope they don't overlay a cursor on them.

Rated E for eld, maybe?  I guess if the graphics are pixelated enough, shooting people is A-Okay.

I wonder how they would work then without a cursor? Perhaps they have a way to calibrate the Wiimote so when it is pointing at the TV it knows exactly where it is (sounds like TP has something like that).

They DID say that you could play NES games with the Wiimote...

Also guys, since they said that these games got recently rated, maybe this is the reason why there are so few Nintendo games for the VC launch? Maybe half of them need to be rated by the ESRB before being widely launched...

I know that, I was just curious to how they are going to overcome the technical limitations of needing a cursor because the sensor bar is what is technically what the Wii reads, not the TV. Perhaps someone that is more technically minded can explain how the Wii can get "point at your TV and shoot" without a cursor with it being accurate.

I'm most excited for Kirby's Adventure.  I missed that game the first time around.

I wondered how in the world I missed this thread the first time through. Well I will be getting a few of those because my mother controlled which games I got back when the NES was king, so I missed out on a few.

Look up a review of the LCD TopGun.  There's no conceivable reason the same thing can't be done with the Wiimote.  The only problem is the lack of a gunsight, which I'm hopeful a third party will take care of.  Namco, I'm looking at you.

I imagine a no-cursor solution is possible for lightgun games, but I'm doubting it will happen, simply because Nitnendo will want people to be able to play without attachments.  I think an optional attachment which hides the cursor when it's added on might be a neat idea.

My thinking on the smallish number of virtual console games is that there's more money to be made by releasing them in small batches than by putting everything (or even half of everything) online at once.  If I see every game I could possibly want tomorrow, I'll probably buy Earthbound and a couple of TG16/Genesis games and be done with it.  If I see a new batch of games every month, then I'm freshly tempted every month.
That's my opinion, not yours.

From what I've played of Wii, a no cursor solution would be impossible unless it had an ultra precise sight like on the Super Scope.  Even then, it would require calibration.

The Wii remote pointer works relative to itself, not the actual screen.  All in all, I'm quite confused as to how Duck Hunt will work at all.  In fact it makes me doubt this supposed list?  Do we have an actual link?

I'm surprised!! no one interested in Pro Wrestling!? that was the best wrestling game back in the NES days if its the game I remember (Starman, etc. etc.).

The only games on that list I havn't played start with a 'K' and I know I will be playing atleast the 1st one of those two.

IGN has a story on this.

I realize that I haven't played it yet, and you have, so you have reason to doubt what I'm saying.  However, from everything I know about the Wii, including what you've said, I think the Wii remote can do this just fine.  It just requires calibration, but so what?  Fans of gun games are no strangers to calibration.  That's no problem.  The lack of a sight is a problem, though.  I'm extremely disappointed in the gun attachment Nintendo's shown because it doesn't have a sight.

My biggest concern is that Nintendo will overlay a cursor regardless.  I think that would take all the fun out of it, so I'm holding out hope that it can be turned off.  In fact, when I first realized the Wii controller could be used like this, it dawned on me that a cursor is actually possible even if it isn't strictly necessary.  It would be great if it could be toggled on or off to help less skilled players, like a virtual laser sight.

Mario RPG!

The ESRB doesn't trust that games they rated "kids to adults" are appropriate for "everyone"?

I figure they'll either HAVE to go with a cursor (which would dumb down the difficulty significantly), or they'll have to have some crazy recalibration after each level with a "shoot here" sign so you can always recenter your wii remote.
