Hey everyone, I was getting antsy waiting for The Wind Waker, and decided to write a little something on TLoZ, a kind of fan story I guess you could say. I hope you guys will have a look at it, it took a while to write (I'm not done, it'll be long), and I think it's going pretty well so far. So take a look (it's so far untitled). Keep in mind that it's unfinished, so if you don't understand something, it'll probably be explained later (such as when I mention that Link...well, you'll see. It has to do with a blade).

Link wiped the rain away from his eyes as he stood, looking back at Hyrule for the last time. When would he see his home again? That was only one of the questions that flooded his mind. He wore his green outfit today, the one his grandma had given him. He hadn’t liked it at first, but as many things tend to do, it had grown on him, and now he used it whenever he traveled. Which wasn’t much really, now that his father was gone, and he no longer visited the castle. The long green hat atop his matted blonde hair drooped down to the middle of his back, pushed down by the soaking downpour. Every part of him was wet actually, and he shivered from the biting wind that his grandmothers gift could not protect him from. If this was any indication of how his journey would turn out to be, maybe he should have stayed home after all. But of course, he knew he could never do that. Not when she was out there, waiting for a rescue that may never come if he didn’t do the rescuing himself. He did not think of himself as brave, but the piece of Triforce imbedded on his hand said different, whether Link himself believed it or not. He had that piece of Triforce because his dad, Connec, truly had been brave. And just before Link had put his blade through his fathers heart, Connec’s eyes shone with pride, instead of hate or fear. How could Link ever live up to a man so great as his father? It was too much to hope for. He realized with a start that he was avoiding setting out away from Hyrule, and that the thoughts jumbled in his head were actually shielding what he didn’t want to think about: Zelda. Ganon had her, and Link was her only chance to survive. Ganon only kept Zelda alive because he knew that Link would come for her, but even though he was doing exactly what Ganon wanted, there was nothing else he could do. And so he took the first step away from Hyrule, and then the second, and the third…
Two weeks earlier:
Connec smiled down at Link and Zelda from the overlooking balcony, laughing as they played in the castle courtyard. Connec was the King’s First Officer and his Advisor, and he often brought his son along when young Link wasn’t tied up in his studies. He had taken a liking to Princess Zelda quickly, and so Link never missed a chance to travel the four miles from the village to the castle. Zelda enjoyed Link’s company every bit as much as he hers, and so it worked out perfectly. King Xander had confided one day to Connec that she had been lonely, with few children her age in the castle and hardly ever a chance to journey to the village. Connec had suggested bringing Link along with him the next day, and the rest was history. Turning away from the playful pair, he readied himself for what he had to tell Xander. They had thought they were rid of the menace named Ganon, but it seemed it was not so. His scouts had reported to him this morning that he had been spotted three days ago, heading toward Hyrule. The scout had ridden his horse hard, near death, to deliver the news with enough time to get the defenses ready. He reported that Ganon should be arriving that evening at the earliest. Ganon truly was a menace. He believed that he could overthrow the castle and kill the king if he tried often enough. It was not the kingdom of Hyrule he sought however, but the Triforce pieces that seemed a part of Connec, Xander, and Zelda’s hand. He almost had succeeded the last time, sending huge masses of fiery spheres hurtling into the brick walls, had rained bolts of lightning on the spires that rose into a clear blue sky. Men rushed at him, but anyone in site had been thrown back 30 feet or more, often receiving a broken neck for their bravery. It had been Connec himself who had loosed the arrow that struck the seven foot tall beast in the chest. He may have great magic, but he could be hurt and die just like any man. A moment more and Ganon would have achieved his goal. A shame that they had allowed him to escape, thinking that the wound was a mortal one. An arrow through the heart would have killed most men, but here was Ganon yet again, only a little over a month after taking the wound. Maybe there was more to his magic than Connec had ever thought. The doors banging open ended his speculating, as the very same scout that had delivered the news of Ganon strode in, an urgent look on his face. “Sire,” he said, directing his worried gaze at the King, “He is here! Ganon has arrived already!” Shock painted Xander’s face, “What?! But you informed Connec that he would not be here until nightfall! We are not ready.” Connec realized that Link and Zelda had come in, perhaps sensing the danger. Or rather Zelda had sense the danger, and informed Link of it. But neither Xander nor Connec would want their child hearing this. He began to order them out, when his scout began laughing hysterically. “This is no laughing matter Sevn! You have delivered your news, now off with you.” Sevn’s laugh only intensified, and suddenly Sevn seemed to grow taller, wider, until a great hulking creature with black eyes and impossibly broad shoulders stood before them. Spikes ran the length of those shoulders, then tapered off onto it’s back and traveled to the very tip of it’s tail. It’s eyes were not the only black feature of this creature, it’s head to toe armor was black also; it’s teeth a sickly yellow, it’s skin a scaly mixture of greens and browns, the hair hiding under it’s helmet a fiery red. Ganon. It was impossible, and yet, here he stood. A new kind of magic, that was the only thing that could explain it, and the armor was new as well. Ganon was getting more powerful, and smarter it seemed too. All this flashed in Connec’s mind in a split second. His first thought should have been for the King, but instinct told him to protect the children. He turned to them and shouted, “Go! Run now, don’t look back until I send for you.” The mere three seconds to insure that the kids were safe cost the King his life, and Connec’s also. Ganon raised his hand and from it blue and white electrified energy shot from it, burning a hole through Xander’s chest. That ball of energy didn’t stop at the king however, it traveled through him, straight at Connec, who had thrown himself at Xander the second he turned back from the kids. It took him in the shoulder, but did not penetrate completely. Agony enveloped him, all thought fled.
Ganon could not afford to let Zelda slip through his grasp, not now that he was so close to achieving the whole Triforce. Already he could feel the energy from the Triforce of Power leaving the King and entering his body, leaving it’s mark on the back of his right hand, a golden triangle, point placed just below his middle knuckle. Once Connec died the Triforce of Courage would take it’s place below and to the left of the triangle that represented Power, the points just touching each other. But he could not spare the precious seconds it would take to summon the energy needed to finish the job, not now. He could have taken the sword from Connec’s belt, the one he had never had a chance to draw, and use it to slit his throat, but that was not Ganon’s way. He never got his hands dirty. So he left Connec to die, and rushed down the steps that led down to the courtyard below.
Her father was dead, she could feel his absence in the Triforce of Wisdom imprinted on her hand. Pain erupted within her, white hot and fierce, like she had only felt once before in her life. That had been the day her mother had died. That had been the day the Triforce of Wisdom had left her mother and entered her, creating a special bond between Zelda and her father (and Connec for that matter). She could always feel his every emotion, whether happiness, or sadness, fear, or hate…. The day her mother had died Xander was filled with such pain and sorrow, Zelda had cursed the symbol on her hand. She had enough pain inside of her for her mother, and her fathers pain had been added atop that. And now there was no emotion at all in that connection to her father, which could only mean that he had died. She could still feel Connec though, and he was in pain also, but this pain was physical. There was fear too, and the most intense sense of dread she had ever sensed in anyone. Fear and dread for Zelda, and for Link; fear and dread that Ganon would reach them, and Connec could do nothing about it. Bad enough that the children would both surely be killed, but the fate of the world also hung in the balance, for if Ganon were to murder Zelda, he will have gained all three Triforce pieces, and no one could stop him then. Zelda was terrified. What could she do? The whole world rest on her shoulders, and she could think of nothing. Her knees gave way, but she never reached the ground. Link was there, holding her, trying to comfort her. His eyes were so sad for her. No, it was not resting on her shoulders alone. Link was there; Link would know what to do.
To be continued...........
So tell me what you all think! Should I post the rest when it's done?
Link, Ganon, Zelda, Hyrule, and Triforce are all, like, Trademarks of Nintendo...or something.
