I hate the OOT Water Temple
« on: October 01, 2006, 05:11:22 PM »
You know that eye switch below the ledge at the mid level in the Water Temple? So I shoot it with an arrow and the gate in the passage above opens. Behind the gate is a target to shoot with the hook shot. Problem is, I can't jump across the water before the gate shuts again. Plus, the hookshot target is too far away to pull myself across with. What in the heck am I supposed to do?

All the guides say hookshot across, but I think they are dirty, filthy liars.

Please help me before I smash the Zelda collector's disc with a hammer

oh man, I remember that stumping me, but don't remember the solution. I think you probably need a new item.

I used a guide for the water temple, once or twice. Kind of wish I hadn't.

I don't like to use the guide but I have several hours in the water temple alone right now. I just want to get past it at this point.

I remember the thing that got me was that there's a secret room in the central column that you can only get to when the water level is at a certain point. I'm not sure if that's of any help. I wish could remember enough to be more specific.

That would be when the water is raised to mid-level and one of the platforms at the bottom of the central tower raises up. If you use your iron boots, and go to where it raised from, there's a passage, and I think it leads to a key..

You have got the Longshot, right?

Okay, so I finally beat Ganondorf, right? I run down down the temple with Zelda and we are standing outside right before Ganon pig man comes. So I save the game and Ganon ends up killing me, since I used all my fairy bottles fighting Ganondorf. No problem, I saved I will come back later. Guess what? IT FREAKING SAVED ME BACK TO BEFORE I BEAT HUMAN GANON. YOU KNOW HOW MANY TRIES IT TOOK ME TO BEAT HIM??? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUGGGH!!!

I don't usually deserve to say this (except when talking about F-Zero GX), but that's pretty weak man. Ganondorf was easy; just do some baseball FROM A CORNER, then hit him with a light arrow as he covers up, then jump to his platform and slash. Rinse and repeat. When he does that huge ball thing, hit him with a light arrow as he's charging up. When he's down, you could even lock on and hookshot to where he was.

I personally love that it saves before Ganondorf. Whenever I feel like it, I go back and do the final battle with both forms. If there was only Ganon it would be no fun..

Ah man, I finally beat it! Great, great game. Fighting Ganon in both forms was much easier once I got the Biggorn's Sword.

Now, do I go buy Twilight Princess, or do I start Majora's Mask...?

Majora's Mask.

Don't let modern glitz & glam graffix cloud your game experiences.  Otherwise you won't see how Zelda evolved in 3D; you won't see the good, the bad, and the good that was left behind.

I really need to play Majora's Mask. That's probably the game I regret selling the most. I only beat two dungeons of it, and now I want to have at it again. Maybe when I'm not broke I will pick it up.
Thanks for listening.

Depends. Are we talking about the cube version of Majora's Mask, or the original? If all you have is the cube version, I'd wait on playing the game until you can experience it properly.

Cube version. I had no problem with things mapped to the c-stick with OOT, so I don't see a problem. Is there another reason, or are you just being a purist?

He doesn't think the VC version of Super Mario 64 is better, so I'd say the latter.

There's a sound skipping problem. Perhaps you'll feel differently, but it made the game unplayable for me.

So true...

However, it is the absolute best if you save right before you face the two Iron Knuckles that guard the entrance to Ganondorf and the final battle. You don't know how many times I fought those Knuckles. If you hit the both and use your Master Sword, it can get pretty challenging.

Now try doing that with three hearts, the Master Sword, no shield (well, that doesn't matter anyway), and.. HOVER BOOTS.
