Sony's TGS speech for PS3

Talk about alot of rambling over nothing. I also like how Sony is supposedly pushing innovation, that is a hoot! Also the PS3 has the unique ability to let you buy emulated games! OMG I guess they really are pushing innovation, not to mention RIIIDGE RACER!

Wow you can use the PS3 network to keep track of game development and interact with users.  NOT ONLY THAT, but PS3 will allow users to give developers ideas in order to push innovation. What will Sony come up with next? It is blowing my mind.

Well it is all over, what an AMAZING speech we learned about um, how networks work, how cool the IBM processor is, how it is so great to live in a time with PS3, and not only that but they even chose to mention games for a couple of seconds. We also learned that Ken Kutaragi had many dreams as a kid, wow just wow. I take everything bad I said about Sony because this press conference has changed my mind.

I want to know how much their controllers are.. actually, they really haven't talked about their launch strategy at all. Remember when they said they would have i ready by Spring 2006? Heh..

You think it looks bad now - but that's just because you don't know Kutaragi is planning a suprise CRABATON that will turn everything around. Just you wait.

None of that stuff is important, you should be more concerned about HDMI, getting game development update news, IBMs processor, and that you are getting an amazing deal (he even said in America, people are amazed by how cheap the PS3 is going to be). Oh yeah it will be a new computer too, so screw launch details and controllers, that stuff is frivilous along with games.

I think the price for PS3 controllers is going to make alot of wiimote/nunchuk-price-whiners shut the hell up.

Yeah us whiners, we should just go to our tree that grows money to then go buy the controllers. I don't care if the PS3s controllers cost even $100. Just because everybody else is price gouging ($50 for 360 control), doesn't make it ok for Nintendo to do the same. $60 is a ton for a controller. Not everybody can just throw money around recklessly you know.

A bit of good news for $ony:

Looks like in Japan the PS3 Core (20GB model) will be getting a price Drop, insted of being ¥59,800 ($542) it will now be ¥49,800 ($425)

There is no announced US price drop, as it stands the US is still going to have to drop $499 on the PS3 Core.

If the PS3 were to drop into the same range as the Xbox360 I might think of getting one in 2008.

The original reason for content production is to seek diversity and to promote creativity, and at present the games industry relies too heavily on easy to sell sequels. He believes that this is a warning signal for the business - and that for SCE, innovation is now the basis of all their thought. Without innovation, there can be no future for the industry.

Did they just give a sales pitch for the Wii there?

Also, out of all the old systems to snag emulation for, Sony gets the Mega Drive and PC Engine... ha ha ha.

The core also has HDMI now, they're clearly feeling the heat from Nintendo in Japan as the Wii has a great chance to  take control of the Japanese market.

Will be interesting to see if the price drop and HDMI also happen here, maybe price drop by MS? Then Nintendo packing in a second wiimote/nunchuk? (OK I'm dreaming, sue me).

I understand that not all people have enough money to get what they want from launch day, but then you also have to understand that gaming is not a life priority, it is a non-essential, why whine about it if it is nothing that will harm your well being. If you can't buy it now, buy it later, for sure there will be a price drop.

On topic, look at how Sony is feeling the heat from Nintendo and their future clients, lol, now they add HDMI to basic package and I think that's cool however it is still irrelevant if the price is still too high. maybe I will get a PS3 in late 2007 when they have more games that will make the console worthy of purchase, heck maybe even a 360 too, nahhhhhhhhhhh!

I still am not going to go into the argument that the Wii controller prices are gouging us, because personally I, nor any of us know how much of a profit (if any) Nintendo is making off them. Anyway back to the Sony TGS speech, I would think that after all the bad news they would put together a good speech, but many are considering this one of the least eventful speeches EVER at TGS. BTW I don't know about you guys but the PS3 lineup for both present and future looks like crap, I mean what do they have? DMC4, Ridge Racer, MGS and FF? That is like it out of the big titles.

Of course if Sony is the only one with sanely priced controllers, that might make the ungodly high cost of their console a little more forgivable. Of course, having a single launch title I'd actually want would go a long way to that end as well.

I see Ninja Gaiden has been announced for PS3, but I have a gut feeling it may also come out on Xbox 360.

I am looking forward to (and by 'looking forward to', I mean 'cursing that I may never get a chance to play') Lair, and Fumito Ueda's next game (whatever that might be.)

Ninja Gaiden isn't a launch title though, is it? The list I've got is pretty awful, it's all EA Sports games, race cars, and soldier sims.

Genji's the only one I'd have even a passing interest in, and if I'm not willing to drop $300 to play Zelda TP I sure as hell am not going to drop $660 to play Genji.

PS3's Ninja Gaiden is a "complete" version of the XBox Ninja Gaiden...

NOT ONLY THAT, but PS3 will allow users to give developers ideas in order to push innovation. What will Sony come up with next? It is blowing my mind.

Developers delete all game ideas that are sent in without reading them. That's important to prevent anyone from making copyright infringement claims and demanding royalties for using "their" ideas if the dev had the same idea.

(he even said in America, people are amazed by how cheap the PS3 is going to be)

Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes true.

Also, out of all the old systems to snag emulation for, Sony gets the Mega Drive and PC Engine... ha ha ha.

I recall Nintendo fans being quite happy when Nintendo announced that the Virtual Console will emulate the Mega Drive (aka Genesis) and PC Engine (aka TurboGraFX-16).

you also have to understand that gaming is not a life priority, it is a non-essential

HERESY!

I found IGN's hands on to be quite laughable for Resistance Fall of Man.

"That about wraps up what we saw of Resistance at this year's Tokyo Game Show. There wasn't a whole lot new for us to check out, unfortunately, but the game still looks fantastic, and that's really all that matters."

Yeah because grahics are all that matter.

Ya the Ninja Gaiden on the PS3 is like DoA2: Hardcore on the PS2, Its just a port from another system and Team Ninja had nothing to do with it.
If you played the Xbox version back in 2004 thats the same game your getting here. I'm a bit surprized they just didn't port it to the PS2, but then again the PS2 was extramly underpowered compaired to the Xbox.

Thou its really going to suck for playing since the Playstation controler stinks for these kind of games.

Sony should be so happy that they are getting a 2 year old port. I don't see this selling that well. And it will most likely be the only Team Ninja game to show up on the PS2 just like DoA2: Hardcore on the PS2.

Sony has become a total joke. It really confuses me as to how they got this way. They really had everything together the past two generations, dethroning Nintendo and Sega and holding back Microsoft from even touching their sales numbers. Now they seem to be losing the enormous 3rd party support they had and can't even reasonably price a console. I almost feel bad for them ... almost.
