There are no overweight anti-social weirdos with poor higene in these photos. Clearly Nintendo is neglecting the traditional gamer market in favour of non-gamers.

The people in these shots look far too attractive and successful to have time to be playing games. Surely their free time is already eaten up by clothes shopping, working out, jogging, attending social gatherings with co-workers, chatting on their cel, eating sushi, driving an SUV, watching reality TV and drinking speciality coffee. Except for the old man of course. He drinks tea.

I like the lack of all subcultures. Seriously, punks, goths, emos, gangstas, asians etc. can all piss off and I'm glad Nintendo support the homogenisation of society.

Just to play devil's advocate here...is that guy REALLY holding the WiiPointer backwards? Is whatever they're supposed to be playing absolutely unplayable if he prefers to have his thumb right where the 1 and 2 buttons are? Do the WiiPointers actually need to face the screen like light guns? Or maybe he held it at just the right angle that the really bright flash is reflecting off of the black surface and only making it appear like he's holding it backwards?

The black infrared sensor definitely has to face the screen for the pointer feature to work.

Considering he's just a doofus model/actor who probably never plays games I'd say it's more likely he's just screwing up. It reminds me of a Future Shop ad where it shows a guy "playing" a PS2, with his thumbs not resting on the pad, rapidly tapping the four trigger buttons with his index and middle fingers while making "excited" facial expressions. Even my parents immediately noted how fake it looked and they've played maybe an hour's worth total of videogames between the two of them.

Are we referring to the "pointer feature" as something different from tilt/motion sensing? 'Cause I'm sure Excite Truck, and any other racing game, particularly when using the steering wheel attachment, can't keep facing the screen.

Hey, I'm just saying. It is still most likely that he's screwing up. But how about the flash reflection? Isn't that possible? The flash does look pretty bright in that picture. Or is the black part not reflective? Maybe it's not; it's fairly black, in fact, it almost looks like it's drawn in on some of the other pictures.

Nintendo should then take the picture in question and drawn in a black area if they're going to keep using it. And/or find models that know what they're doing, but don't you think he would've seen what the other three are doing? Strange.

JonLeung: Yeah. The WiiMote has accelerometers/gryoscopes for motion sensing, but it has a (infrared?) camera/light sensor for detecting where the lights on the sensor bar are, so it can figure out its position relative to the screen.
