Sam & Max to Wii...Developers Hope So
« on: September 15, 2006, 04:58:33 PM »
The new Sam & Max developers put out a call for people to e-mail Nintendo. They want to put it on Wii but need Nintendo's support. Well, just hours after the campaign began...Nintendo called them! A really exciting story. The game is in episodes and would be perfect for the VC.

If this becomes a reality it will do Nintendo a lot of good.

True, Sam and Max is a bit of an underground franchises, but if third party developers see the Wii getting a lot of varied game franchises it will just encourage them to bring their ideas and franchises over to the console, thus helping Nintendo in many, many ways.

C3: Atlus' Trauma Centre has been likened to the Phoenix Wright series due to it being yet another uniquely styled product on the DS. Atlus has already confirmed that it is bringing out Trauma Centre: Second Opinion as a Nintendo Wii launch game, complete with high resolution 2D graphics. Has any thought gone into creating Phoenix Wright for the Wii using a similar style to retain the game's animated charm?

Ms. Matsukawa: Although we're very much interested in the Wii hardware, currently we have no plan for the series to appear on any other consoles apart from DS.

Pheonix Wright is so perfect for handhelds it's hard for me to see it being retooled for the Wii. It's the kind of game best played while curled up in bed, like with a good book. Also, the wiipointer wouldn't really........

......oh god. Of course. Pointing. Pointing.

POINTING! >=O

I'm the exact opposite when I play through Phoenix Wright...I tend to really get into cases, and when the Objection! theme pops up I spin into a pure adrenaline rush!

Take a look at recent Trauma Center: Second Opinion screens and tell me if you don't froth for Phoenix Wright with fantastic 2D art like that... ;_;

It is perfect.  Instead of yelling objection you just slam the remote on the coach and then here the sound of Pheonix laying the smackdown on his desk come through the speaker!

Oh yeah, yay Sam and Max!

What's taking so long Capcom? Phoenix Wright is episodic GOODNESS! You already have all that 2D art, so just have a writer put out 20 or so scenarios, make a tool so one guy can piece the scenarios and text and easy-cheap 2D art, locations and characters together, then put out a new chapter every week and PROFIT!!!

PROFIT PROFIT PRFOIT! You're sitting on a goldmine capcom! Phoenix Wright will be your Brain Age!

So you enjoy dying repeatedly because you didn't pick up some well-hidden and seemingly useless object at the start of the game?

Don't worry, you'll get Police Quest 3 or one of its sequels :p.

I meant to post this a while ago, but there's good news on this front..
Quote

It's not every day videogame fans have their voices heard, but when Telltale Games rallied for a call to arms so Nintendo would hand over a Wii development kit for a possible Sam & Max port, someone took notice -- someone at Nintendo, actually.
Telltale contacted 1UP last Friday, letting us know gamers can stop pestering the company, as Telltale received a call from Nintendo earlier that afternoon.

"They took notice! We got a phone call from Nintendo this afternoon. We'll take it from here - please don't email them anymore!," said Telltale's Web Coordinator Emily Morganti to 1UP, who also wrote the original blog asking gamers to begin virtually rioting.

Does this mean Sam & Max is destined for Wii? No, but the ball's certainly rolling in the right direction

QFT.

Since you can't die in Lucasarts games for the most part (barring an extended 10 minute long undersea waiting game, or falling off the wrong cliff above a rubber tree), and since Lucasarts games tend to be comedic, I have to give them the crown.

Sierra still holds a place in my heart, but Lucasarts is King Awesome.
I must find a way to use "burninate" more in my daily speech.
