Who much do you get for donating Plasma in Texas?  Where do you go?  It might be worth it for me.

I just thought of something. And by 'thought of something', I mean 'read somewhere else and realised that it was true.' Trauma Center is being published by Atlus, and will disappear quickly. So add another launch game to my list. Good thing, too, as it'll be a good demonstration game.

hmm.....let's see...
Wii: ~$450

if I someone goes to the US and can get me one (chances: 0.1%):
Wii: $250
Wiimote+Nunchuck: $60
Zelda: $50
Rayman: $50
---------------------------------
Total: $410

so you were complaining about the price?
Remember that the US is where this things are cheapest, so think that in the rest of the world people have to pay more, even DOUBLE, before you complain about a $50 raise

I've sorta worked out my revised budget and threw in tax. I've been saving for this moment over 3 years, so you KNOW I'm going all out. Observe:

Wii                    249.99
1 wiimote             Free
1 nunchuck           Free
Wii Sports             Free
-------------------------------
                      249.99

3 X wiimote            119.97
3 X nunchuck             59.97

-------------------------------
                       429.93

RRR                       49.99
Red Steel                 49.99
Metal Slug Anthology       49.99
Zelda: TP                 49.99
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance  49.99
Call of Duty 3               49.99
Trauma Center: SO      49.99
Zelda: TP (GC)              49.99
Madden NFL 07           49.99

-------------------------------
                         879.84

Rechargable Batteries     ~40

-------------------------------
                        919.84

8.5 % sales tax           ~78.19

-------------------------------
                      $998.03

Changes from previous plans:

Wii Sports:                           Now packed-in with console
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance      Added to list of titles I'm buying
Wario Ware:                        No longer launching in Launch Window
Final Fantasy: CC:               No longer launching in Launch Window
Wii Music:                            No longer launching in Launch Window
Batteries:                            Now budgeted for

Hmm... now when my roommate pays me back the life savings I lent him for his car, ... I'll need just 200 dollars to reach my goal!

~Carmine M. Red
Kairon@aol.com

Edit: I am also considering purchasing Marvel: Ultimate Alliance...hmmm

Edit 2: Removed Wario Ware since it's not a 2006 title and replaced it with Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Also removed VC purchase as I have not heard of the exiostence of any 5000 point card in America, nor a free classic controller if I buy such a card

Okay, I'll buy a Wii, probably three nunchucks (still not sure on final Canadian pricing) and then:
-Zelda
-Rayman
-Excite Truck
-Super Monkey Ball
-Red Steel
-Metal Slug
-possibly more?

Depending on Canadian prices that could be like $830.  I do still have to buy a PS3 so I'm going to have to weigh the game lineup carefully, or else I'll have to buy just one or two controllers, in which case Monkey Ball and Excite Truck suddenly become less necessary.  Too many decisions!
That's my opinion, not yours.

I'm realizing more and more that there's no way I'm walking away with just Zelda and an extra controller, so here's an updated list:
Wii - $250
3 wiimotes - $120 (getting a four player round of Wii Sports going over thanksgiving would be kind of neat)
Red Steel - $50 (will probably get pressured into this)
2 nunchakus - $40 (for Red Steel)
Zelda: TP- $50
Trauma Center: Second Opinion -$50 (because it will likely disappear, and I'm really excited for it, anyway.)
Wiiponts - $20

total: $600 or so.

Ouch. We'll call that my upper limit. So somewhere between $350-$600 for me.

Wandering, as much as I want to cheer you on for buying third parties, you don't need to buy Red Steel just to fit in! You're beautiful just the way you are!

I guess I've decided to grind hard and not spend any money I don't have to between now and then. I'll be getting one at launch.

Unfortunately this means I can only get one game, and that is the tricky part. I actually think I'll pass on Zelda at launch (unless they do the gold disk again...I'd be a sucker for that). I'll get that at Christmas as a gift. It also makes sense because I have several papers due and exams the month immediately after launch, so an epic game isn't best for that time. I actually may end up playing WiiSports more than I expected (golf and boxing have me really excited...). I'm now leaning towards Rayman, Trauma Center, Red Steel or Monkey Ball. I won't be buying another controller right away, either. Hopefully I can catch up at Christmas.

Well here is my final list for what I'm getting at launch since I just got done preordering the games:

Wii system=250$
Wiimote/nunchuck x2=120
Component cable=30$? Not sure
Elebits=50$
Red Steel=50$
Rayman=50$
Zelda=50$

So a grand total of 600$. This will be the first time EVER that I am getting more 3rd party games than nintendo published or developed games.

Got to page 2 got bored haven't finished reading.  Thanks you Rhoq for the formatting.

(Using high prices)
Wii (with Wii Sports)……………………….………...……..$249.99
Additional Wii-Mote………………………………...………... $39.99
Additional Nunchuck Attachment………………..….... $19.99
Component Cable...............................................$49.99

(Assuming that all launch titles are priced at $49.99)

Zelda…..........….……………………………………………........$49.99
Rayman………...…………………………….…….………..........$49.99

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subtotal………………………………………………….......…...$459.94
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9.25% Sales Tax………………………………………..………..$42.55
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grand Total…………………………………………………........$502.49

Games I'll rent from Gamefly first: Excite Truck, Project H.A.M.M.E.R.,Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (I was actually going to buy this one but I want those two more and $502.49 is about a month worth of expenses.)

(Athrun Zala:  If you want to send me the money for Shipping and getting it for you I'll pick it up for you. )

Edit:  I could save 42.55 if I went with Amazon.  Even with Same day shipping it could be cheaper to order online. lol.  I love living in a sales tax state /sarcasm

Having heard Canadian pricing for the console I'm now going on the assumption that controllers will cost $75-$80 here (ouch!), plus my savings are a little low, so I will be scaling back my game selection.

I'm thinking three controllers plus Zelda and Rayman for sure.  I need the controllers so I can have a WiiParty, I'll rent games.  After that I'll get the highest-reviewed game out of: Super Monkey Ball, Tony Hawk, Red Steel, Elebits or Excite Truck.

If controllers are $75, that will be about $685 CAN, which is about my limit.  Unless I make a bundle on PS3s on Ebay.
That's my opinion, not yours.

couchmonkey > Ummm you don't have to buy 3 extra controllers, most likely you will have friends that will end up having a Wii...however, I bet you will have to get at least 1 extra nunchuck/remote controller, and 2 VC controllers.

I haven't made a budget list for myself yet because I still want more official details in regards to Canadian prices, and I want to see an official launch game list too.

I'm still debating wether to buy a Wii - I'm annoyed that:
   - I'd be paying more than the rest of the world (here in UK)
   - Nothing in the launch line-up really excites me.
   - It's hardly cheaper than the X360, which (although I don't actually want one) seems to contain much more hardware for the money
   - If I want to get my (non gaming) friends to play on it, either me or they are gonna have to stump up a load more money for additional controllers
   - I have serious worries that the controller might turn out to be pants

I have hedged my bets though and pre-ordered one anyway - if I do get one, I think Super Monkey Ball and Wii Sports will have to keep me going until MP3 is out, unless any of the launch titles turn out to be very much better than they currently look.

sadly, that's not an option, as I would get raped by customs (80% of (product price + S&H)....which would end being about the same), which does not happen if one comes from a trip with it (hence the "if someone goes to the US...")

but lots of thanks for actually considering it

For launch, at least, mine is going to have to be;

Wii: $250
Remote(x1): $40 <--(for now)
Nunchaku(x1): $20  <--(for now)
Classic Controller(x2): $40(?)
Zelda: $50
Red Steel: $50
Trauma Center: $50(?)
Metal Slug Anthology: $50(?)
Excite Truck: $50

Total:$600 before tax (Hey Sony! In yo FACE!!)

This is, of course, pre-wife. Once she gets ahold of this list, it will be gutted in a most painful manner, rest assured. *wimper*

edit: The (for now) means, I will be happy with just one more controller for now.
Do, or do not. There is no try.

Uh, are you really expecting a US$50 component cable? I would expect $25-$30.

1   Wii (including WiiSports)   $249.99
1   Component video cable   $29.99
3   WiiMote   $119.97
1   Zelda   $49.99
1   Super Monkey Ball   $49.99
1   Dragon Quest?   $49.99
1   Tony Hawk PS?   $49.99
   Subtotal      $599.91
   Sales Tax (8%)      $4.80
   Total      $604.71

(I have question marks after DQ and THPS because they look interesting, but I have not heard much about them. I may or may not get them pending reviews.) Also, I may consider additional Nunchuks, but I do not think the multiplayer games I have listed will require them... and $600 sounds like a good launch day spending limit to me. (I think I spent $500-$550 for GCN launch for 4 controllers + extensions + a few games.)
