Duke Nukem Forever, This is your life...
« on: September 07, 2006, 05:54:42 PM »
http://duke.a-13.net/

Check this out, a list of major (and minor) events that have happened since Duke Nukem Forever was first announced back in April of 1997 (yes, that's nine years ago)!

Some of my favs:

Over 75 games based in the MegaMan universe, and 12 games featuring MegaMan universe character cameos.
Mario has appeared in 58 different video games.
Every Dance Dance Revolution and Bemani rhythm game.
Wizards of the Coast has printed six Core Sets, 30 Expansion Sets of Magic: The Gathering. If someone bought one of every single card printed since DNF was announced, they would have a collection of approximately 101,742 cards.
Over 350,000,000 consoles and handhelds were sold worldwide.
In October of 2001, Apple announced the iPod and Slashdot dismissed it as an immediate failure. Since then there have been 5 generations of iPods, as well as the iPod Mini, iPod Shuffle, and iPod Nano with 42 million iPods sold worldwide as of 1/06.
Movies that were filmed, released in theatres, and have made it to DVD: All three Star Wars prequels.
Britney Spears' entire musical career as a pop star has taken place during Duke Nukem Forever's development.
Six Harry Potter Books have been released, and four films produced.

DNF is never coming out.  And if it does, the development time involved with it will make the game so awesome that you'd die from playing it for two seconds because our human brains could never handle so much pleasure.
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

How do you know that isn't because of the game?

Umm, we're talking about freaking Duke Nukem. How could this game possibly be good, vaporware or not?

KDR:I think this has been true for quite awhile actually.  Megaman, Mario, and Bomberman I think are the game characters with the most games released.

And is this game even really still being produced.  I think it is a running joke.  Every once and awhile they will release a trailer that looks like real game footage, but it is completely fabricated.  As any journalist played the game?

Not too long ago someone for Computer Games Magazine got to watch George play through some demo levels.  He had Duke send an e-mail to the guy using a computer in the game.

I heard Duke doesn't play video games...he gets entire civilizations to destroy themselves for his entertainment :-\

Well, this game better have 17520 Hours GamePlay, so that the wait is worth it.

If a game takes 2 years to beat, then waiting 9 years is worth it.

Perhaps the next Duke Nukem game can take 15 years to make.

They've completely started over like twice, though.  So they've essentially been working on three completely different games over the course of all those years.
Also, how long was it between the release of Mother 2 and Mother 3?
