Spore on Wii
« on: September 07, 2006, 11:28:23 AM »
Along with the Super Paper Mario news that's making us rant like babies on the GameCube forum, Matt quietly mentioned in yesterday's mailbag that Spore has been announced for Wii.  Does anybody know when that happened?  Did Matt give the exclusive infoes, or did I just miss this announcement like two months ago?

My frothing demand for this game increases!  I want to create some critters and take them into outer space.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Yeah, I never heard about this either...However, the same info can be found in NGamer Magazine, so maybe it was confirmed but not given a big press release?  (Personally I'm still waiting for it...)

I thought I heard awhile back that Spore was being brought to everything imaginable (including DS and Wii.) But maybe that was never confirmed, I dunno.

Meh, I'm not interested in Spore, the concept seems brilliant, but it just ain't my type.

Spore (mini) details
Apparently it is going to contain Wii - DS connectivity. Sounds like an awesome idea, although I'd assume you would have to buy both versions.

Sounds painful.

Not really, all they are saying is don't expect Spore to show up on anything anytime soon other than the PC, it didn't hint at all that Spore might not come to Wii and DS, it just won't be out b4 the PC version hits retail.

I was always under the impression that Spore was coming to consoles, that it was EA (?) that tried to kill the news for no other reason than they could.  At least that is the impression I got.

I think, if I remember the interview right, that yes Spore is coming to everything that will support it.  No it's not coming anytime soon.  Stop bugging us about those and enjoy the PC version you haven't gotten yet.

Even if EA says it isn't confirmed, Will Wright confirmed it, and Will Wright prints money better than the DS, so there's no way EA is going to say no to him.

This is the first I'm hearing of the game, but with Will Wright, I'll probably get it.

Sounds like something between Sim Earth, Sim Life, and Populous.

This month's clangers:

1. Wii-DS connectivity for EA's mighty Spore? Considering that the game isn't even announced for Wii, this is at best 'wishful thinking' and at worst 'a very, very stupid thing to say'.

That's ok WuTangTurtle, this can be the official Spore thread!

Incidentally, Falafelkid's blog reports that Spore has been given an an internal launch date, probably preliminary: May 2008. But that's probably for the PC version, with DS and Wii and other iterations to follow, I'm sure.
