Final Fantasy? Could be, but I doubt it. The line from them about having a "wee bit of analysis" was far more intriging.

By the way, you need to work on your reading comprehension. Where in that quote does it say that Kotaku has the information? It's clear that they do, and could be under the same embargo, or they could simply be respecting someone's wishes by maintaining the confidence. Skilled writers use that kind of stuff all the time. Leave yourself enough room to wiggle out of.

I would've bolded the "it really won’t get you any closer to the news most people want to know", which means either that it's going to be a letdown or that it's going to be totally unexpected.

And do we know that it's good news? It just seems more likely than bad. If it was bad news that had to be released, they'd just let it out and get it over with instead of hyping it up and holding it 'til tomorrow.

It could be anything so I'm not losing any sleep over it. I'll probably be awake anyway, but I won't be sitting at the computer at 11:58 constantly reloading webpages in case my time is slightly off of some news site's. Besides, when news is rumored to be announced, it usually takes a life of its own and becomes the biggest news you've ever heard ever since you were alive and will totally blow your mind and the mind of your mother and her sister. The funny part is that it's usually a let down. Super Smash Bros Brawl at E3 was the only news recently to really surprise and excite me. It went MIA at Nintendo's press conference then came out of no where the night of day one of E3 with Pit and Snake as newcomers. If you want to drop some major news, you don't tell people its coming.

Ah. You're right, it may be that Kotaku itself does not have this information. However, they do seem to have the information that this info was given out under the expectation that it wouldn't be posted until X time.

Either way, we've still no proof that this is Wii news.

Anyway. The fact that it was sent out to newspapers is telling....telling what, I'm not entirely sure. It means it's not something like Mario Hoops Wii, though, right? And maybe instead something like....price? Mmm.

"Wii set to debut at $199. Launch date still unkown." I can dig it.

Makes sense to me that they're releasing some news tonight. The newspaper I read always does their game coverage on Friday with the new movie releases. Maybe it's like that with all newspapers.

It is definitely Wii, and they (Joystiq at least, likely Kotaku) do already have the info. From Joystiq's comments section, written by Summa himself:

And it's not going to be Super Paper Mario. Joystiq and co. are less strict with embargos than the major sites (as Rick said) and Matt at IGN already confirmed SPM's move, so there's no embargo there.

Rick, it does qualify as journalism. Not the strict pure-facts news reporting denotation, but certainly a couple other. Check a dictionary. Entertainment Journalism is the term I'd use, personally.

That means that the news will probably interest us, but that it won't be something we've been expecting, exactly, such as launch date, price, hopeful game announcements, etc.
