Because all good villians are really good guys at heart. Just with a different perspective of goood.
If he wasn't that sort of Villian then he either be insane or very compulsive. Either way you can't really scheme.
So therefore, like his mother probably says, Wandering must be a good guy.
Bad thing this doesn't really work with the "Good" side of the coin.
