Camelot: For the time being no further NINT DO support

01.08.06 - Camelot will for the time being support no further NINT DO platforms with plays. The magazine Gemaga reports the gulf play gulf Daisuki to that of a presentation of the Japanese developer, today: I Love gulf for the PC presented.

Instead Camelot wants to concentrate completely on its new gulf play and the pertinent on-line service “G planet Koosoo”, those in co-operation with Eleven UP Inc. and Yahoo! Develop for Japan (responsible for advertisement and account): In an asking and a Anwortrunde Camelot closed therefore also a conversion of gulf Daisuki: I Love gulf for a NINT DO hardware out.

Camelot has among other things Shining Force III (Saturn), golden Sun (GBA), Mario tennis: Power route (GBA) and Mario power tennis (office) manufactured.

So, they are not going to make Nintendo games, so they can make a golf game for the PC?

Does any of this make sense?

Wow... Wii has started to go downhill already. At least GC had a year before people started dropping Nintendo. Camelot will be an even bigger loss than Rare to me. This could explain Wii Sports existing.

Does this mean no Mario Tennis DS? Mario Tennis with WiFi was one of my most anticipated non-existant games.

This doesn't even make sense. A friggin online PC golf game? Nobody will care. It wont even sell 1 copy. This is STUPID! Might as well make a god damn mobile phone game. Another awesome developer turns to absolute crap overnight.

So basically, they suspended all work on all Nintendo games (where is the supposed RPG for Wii) so that they could concentrate on some stupid online golfgame that is for a Japanese only online service?

Well thats retarded, unless they were really behind schedule and just needed to get this project out of the way so that they can concentrate on Wii gaming for the foreseeable future.

I'm sure Mario Tennis can continue without Camelot, and while I enjoyed both Golden Sun games, I don't see it as being a uber-franchise that everyone else seems to.

Still, it kinda of sucks, since I thought Camelot was close to Nintendo.

I wish that Nintendo could have held on to Rare, Silicon Knights, Factor 5 (weren't they a second-party?  I could be wrong) and anyone else closely associated to them in the past.

I thought Camelot was a second-party? Meaning that, Nintendo owns part of their company if not all.

Golden Sun would have been spectacular. The Wiimote has so much potential in the Golden Sun realm. All those Psy-push/grab/lift could have been easily replicated through the use of the wiimote.

It's such a spectacular, yet obvious use of the controller, in what is a criticly-acclaimed series.

Truth be told this isn't as big of a deal as some of you people make it out to be.
Oh boo hoo we lose out on them making the next Mario Golf and Mario Tennis. That did seem to hurt Sony to much when the stoped developing Hot Shots Golf. Camelot only made the first one and after that it was all Sony.

Camelot really only focused on the GBA and as much fun as Mario Golf: Advance Tour and Golden Sun were its nothing I would really miss (And they weren't anything special that couldn't be created by someone else). Now if Camelot had actually created that damn GameCube RPG then kept say they would I might feel bad that they are not developing anything. But now that we have Square and Next Level Games making Mario Sports titles I really don't feel that bad.

Factor 5 was a so-so lose I mean all they created was Rogue Squadron games for the GameCube, I would much rather have LucasArts backing Nintendo then Factor 5.
Silicon Knights was a sad lose, but I had not grown very attached to them yet since they had only created two games for the GameCube.
abd Rare... Don't even get me started, It was a very smart move to dump them when they did.

What? How the hell did this happen? I thought they were on great relations with Nintendo, especially since Nintendo loaned the Mario franchise to them, which I'm sure brought them in a lot of money. They should be thanking Nintendo, if anything. Maybe the RPG was taking too long, and they decided it wasn't worth it. Or something. I really don't know.

EDIT: From Requiem's post.. Maybe some good news.

So does this mean that they are making this game for PC and Wii (probably porting it to Wii)? If so, then it's not as bad as it seems. They'll do this project and then hopefully they get back to their other ones for Wii/DS.

I could see them going away because of Nintendo going:

Nintendo:  We need sports titles.  You make them and we'll help fund your RPG
Camelot: Ok

A couple years later...
Camelot:  We like to work on are RPG now.
Nintendo: No!  You must make more sports titles!
Camelot:  We be out of here
Yahoo of Japan:  You know we would like to help you make your RPG...
Camelot: OK
Yahoo of Japan:  Now that it's legal we have one condition you must make us a sports game...
Camelot:  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

You are now leaving the twilight zone.

Ceric:  I see it more happening like this.

Nintendo:  Now that we are working in house to bring sports games to Wii, lets try to clean house on 2nd party relations...hey Camelot only makes Sports games, we don't want to saturate the market.

Camelot:  Hey Nintendo, remember we also make RPGS...Golden Sun, and err...Golden Sun.

Nintendo:  Yes, Yes, we know about Mario Golf and Tennis, but we believe with Wii Sports we can reach larger audiences that won't just see Mario and think arcade sports sim...or too complicated.

Camelot:  Hey what about that super secret RPG we just finished writing the script for.  You know that one with special Wii Controls.

Nintendo:  We are already handling Special Wii Controls for Golf and Tennis right now, weren't you at the E3 booth?

I don't think so Spak.. Nintendo has already stated that they understand the importance of RPGs, and they wouldn't say no to Camelot. This game was one of the first announced for the Wii, so this news is absurd.

Umm.. No where in the press release does it mention Nintendo.

Not once, not at all, zero.

It mentions the ELEVEN-UP, another company called "G-Planet Design" that looks to have helped with the project, and how the game is being made for Yahoo Games with a release of August 4th... it sounds like you people were had.

I am going to have to go with Arbok on this one, the whole thing sounds fishy, or at the very most mistranslated. It makes no sense for Camelot to abandon Nintendo, even if it is just for a relatively long period of time to make some golfing game.

I was mostly joking.

I too am very confused by this story, and I hope it isn't true.  Camelot makes my two favorite sports games, Mario Golf and Mario Tennis...and I was really excited to see the direction the next Golf game would take after going the crazy Mario Golf GBA game which added more Mario elements to the gameplay than ever.

I hope they continue to make Mario Golf and continue in the direction they were heading with the Mario universe Golf.

As for Mario Tennis...I think taking the special moves away, and focusing on Tennis and Tennis Mini Games would be great.

Yeah it seems like whoever reported this had a hair-trigger for Nintendo abandonment.

Like Arbok said, if this was all about Camelot bolting, would it not say that Camelot is bolting?  But it doesn't.  It says Camelot is making some kind of online golf game of some description.  For Yahoo.  Or something.

Hey, guess what?  Did you know that Game Freak (Pokemon guys) made a Playstation game in 1999?  A full three years after Pokemon Red/Green/Blue/Color was released and one year before Pokemon Gold and Silver?

Did you know that Square Enix made a Pokemon... messenger type... thing... for cell phones?

Until a press release comes out saying Camelot is making PS3 (Unlikely) or 360 (LOL!) games, or additionally a press release cancelling the confirmed prjoects for the Wii, it's not wise to get all jumpy.
