Seriously, where's the good sh!t?

Agreed! I also hgihly prefer the Japanese song list (A bit of bias though, my msuic type of choice is Japanese music) But I also love DKonga 1's soundtrack...2 was a complete let down. Why is this? Donkey Konga's soudntrack was just plain good, plenty of tracks everyone could enjoy and get into. 2? Hope you have a strong like for rock because there isn't much for you here otherwise.

I'm lingering. In short, no REquiem, you aren't alone, not by a long shot.

What did you expect? Obscure bands which very few have heard of but have a loyal fanbase?

They're going to sell a lot more copies if the game offers songs which people have, you know, heard of.

And yeah, the scenario is the other half of the equation here. Vida Loca may not be the most inventive song these days, but if used in the right scenario, it could fit the situation rather well and make for an interesting play.

That's not a convincing argument.  I could name many artists that have written, you know, better songs and yet people will instantly recognize them.

Furthermore, I bet they could make better situations based on those artists as well.

For example: Red Hot Chili Peppers

I could pick tons of songs that are better then the ones you would pick that would be instantly recognizable.  Don't be upset because the game isn't focused on your individual song preferences.

That's not the point though...

I'm talking about the localization team. It seems like all they did was search the internet with the query "most generic alternative rock," and picked from a list that popped up.

I'm surprised Avril Lavifhgnife isn't on that list -- oh wait...it's only the PARTIAL soundtrack so who knows!

Anyway, I am in no way dissing the game design (which I've heard is SUPERB). I just wish the music wasn't so bland...

This is arguing opinion. This is the epitome of pointlessness.

The list isn't particularly excellent, but it covers all the bases pretty well and that's the real end goal here.

Besides, Peppers may be in there. There are 3 songs still unrevealed, if it has the same number of stages as Ouendan (which isn't guaranteed, truthfully, it could have more or less).

If the songs fit the new story (and they do) then I can't see why any of you would have a problem with it.

That said, I played EBA at the Penny Arcade Expo, and immediately became a Must-Buy for me, when I showed no interest in it previously.  I'm really looking forward to it now.

But ... have you played Ouendan?  If not, you really can't say that EBA is better.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Hmmm...I wonder if Europe will get a changed songlist for EBA, similar to Donkey Konga?  Probably not though, it would be much harder to rejig the songs based around a story than ones just added to drum to.  Can't wait for Locomotion, though - I hope it takes place on a train.

Locomotion? That's in the bargain bins. I don't think it implements signals which automatically makes it inferior to Transport Tycoon (if you've ever seen what people can do with signals you'd agree).

I dunno that song list reminds me too much of Donkey Konga 2 and it scares me.  I may just have to import Ouendan.

I'm not dissing the bands or anything, i still have a sweet spot for Offspring and well Weird Al almost makes you wish they made the whole game around his songs, it would be hilarious.  Anyone wanna start a comic book for it!

Well, I think it was Rick that said as long as the songs go along with the plot, that's the most important thing, and I think he's right.  I see the potential for some of these songs (even the ones I don't like) to work really well in the proper situation here.

Having said that, it would be nice to see developers approaching music liscencing with a more artistic approach in mind.  This game may not sell that well, but maybe it could sell even better on the strength of a really interesting soundtrack.

What about a Nintendogs-like setup where you start out with all Rap/Rock/Dance music, and you can unlock songs from the other genres and use them in-game as you wish?  That's too expensive for a game that's not guaranteed to be a hit, I guess.
That's my opinion, not yours.
