I meant either or, though swordfighting and spellcasting should definitely be looked at instead of the same old button presses.

Talk about immersion...

I mean there was one for the NES!  Use the Wii-mote to poke the eyes, and the nunchaku waive it back and forth to slap.

Best use of the Wiimote. Evar.

I wanna see something that uses two guns for one person. Like a house of the dead style game but one player uses two guns.

Ohhh...and we need a Hogan's Ally remake. Thank you

More serious here: I always figured there HAD to be a "real" gundam game in the works (and there is).

Granted this could apply to any Gundam-esc Mecha game but maybe even better Sega's Mecha game.  I don't remember what it was called but it was a huge arcade cabinet.

In general, first person mecha games are hit and miss, especially if they go out into space.  The Wiimote could fulfill both the need to control perspective and aiming (B-trigger fires).  All projectiles are aimed with the wii-pointer.  All melee weapons are controlled via slashing of the wii-mote.  Think of it as what they're trying to do with Red Steel only more polished.

The Nunchaku would be used to move.  The two shoulder buttons would be used for thrust (forward/backward) and quick motions could be used to juke.

Also: Online tournaments.

Mech games are best with a Joystick like you use for a flight simulator.  Why?  Because that's how you would really control a Mech.

Sega's mech game is called Virtual On.  I think it is awesome but wouldn't work well with the Wii because the arcade cabinet uses to big joysticks to controle the mech, sort of like you are in a pilots seat.  That didn't stop me from buying the dreamcast version though.

SixthAngel:  I think they could rework Virtual On to work with the Wiimote and Analog stick.  Or if they wanted to be really cool rework it for two Wiimotes.

Personally this was one of the few games that I immediately thought of playing on the Wii.  It just fits really well.

I think it could be reworked to use the remote too (I played it with the dreamcast controller).  If they differ from the the mech style handling they should probably make it a different game entirely though.

On a side note the title of this thread is about an original game concept yet the only things many of us can think of are old games.

Virtual On for Wii can be easily done, you only need 2 Wiimotes

or they could do something like this?

Silent Scope 2 had a really cool Verse Mode system where you Hunt and Snipe in a verse Mode.

I think this would make a great Wii Online game.  The control is simple.  Everyone starts out in a Random place on the map and has 1-2 minutes to find a place to start sniping.  Once time runs out you use the Wiipointer to scroll around the enviroment from your view and shoot the opponents.  No run and gun here.  If you want to shoot you have to stand still and aim.

You can move your character to find better places to snipe.

The game should be able to handle this gameplay with tons of players since Lag shouldn't be as much of an issue.

I think 16 people would make a great hunting game.

Another game I have always wanted to develop was a Tag game...based after the classic game of tag.

The Pointer is used to represent your hands reaching out to tag people.  Analog is for movement.  The game is top down perspective...like the New Zelda DS.

I think that the Wii control scheme would be perfect for an immersive RTS.

Going to the lowest common denominator...I am sure if Nongamers latch on to the system by large numbers...that unofficial porn games will be made with the controller.

I don't think we need those games...but

Leisure Suit Larry would be funny to see on the Wii.

I was bummed that there weren't any two-remote games available at the show.  They did have that basic drum kit demo in the central rotating platform, but no real/generally playable games used the idea.

I was thinking that a game in the style of Robotron or Smash TV would work, but with a true three-dimensional vibe to it.  Like Smash TV has two sticks, one for shooting and one for movement, it could work the same way with two Wiimotes, but one for shooting in three dimensions and the other for moving in three dimensions.  Something like that.

Also, where's the game that uses a flashlight (that isn't Necro Nesia)?

WindyMan:  I get the concept of that...and I like it, but that would be a really hard concept to design.  I would settle for a simple classic Top-Down shooter SmashTV\Robotron style game with WiiPointer and Analog attachment.

Oh and of course Multiplayer.  I think this would make a great party game...with several different mini-games combined in the general style of play.

Maze Races, Main Shooter Game, Collect the Coins, Target Practice, and such.

Ever since I found out what the remotes can do I always had this idea for a game where your character is trying to speed through the jungle for what ever reason. I got the idea from when I was a kid, I used to pretend I was Donkey Kong and Spider-Man swinging on the monkey bars. I want a game where I use 2 remotes, one representing each arm, and in each arm some type of grapeling hook to shoot out at far away branches with.

Now you would always be going forward, but there should be different paths to swing through, pluss a large amount of space to gain alot of hight with. By pressing A you would grab a'hold of something once you reach for it and the trigger would lunch the grapeling hook, that would cause pendulum like swinging. All the while you would some how be doing tricks and stuff to gain points, not sure about that part yet.  I imagine getting really good speed going, shooting out the hook into a deep swing and then WAM swing right out above the canopy into the big blue sky!!

Im trying to think like Nintendo, I could care less why they are doing it, I just want my character in the game to be doing these things.

I dunno why...but I think it would be cool for Nintendo to create some of the classic NES and SNES games, with swappable game sprites.  It just seems likely it would be fun to play Super Mario Brothers with Link from Zelda 2.

Or

Samus.

I wouldn't want the actual game play to change just some of the sprites...It would make for an odd diversion.

That would be an odd diversion.  I'd check it out.  That was my favourite thing to do with the Game Genie: instead of cheating, I just tried to find codes that did freaky stuff to the graphics and levels.  Even if it made the game unplayable, it was fun.
That's my opinion, not yours.

OK digging up an old thread here.

Thinking about elebits and interacting with almost everything made me think of a great new game.

An X-men spinoff. A Magneto FPS!!!

Think about it, running around being able to control anything that is metal.

You could use the nunchuck to move and the wii-mote to point and click at the objects you want to use.

Throw something at an enemy by pointing at the object, holding down a button (larger objects take longer to move or maybe you have to level up RPG style) then you can hurl it at an enemy by moving the wii-mote towards them and letting go of the button!

Maybe even use your powers to steal a gun and use it, but the main focus would be on using the metal in the areas.

That would be a fun game and fully use the wii-mote!
