Um, why is the podcast always posted on the main page and talkback section then also posted in the Wii forum?

I was disappointed to hear there is no Tanuki suit in New Super Mario Bros; still I want to play it.

It does have that air about it that it is some how too little and ten years late.  It doesn't have Yoshi and I'm unsure how the multiplayer works; does it have true simultaneous cooperative play through levels (like Mario Kart)?

ShyGuy: When we don't post it everywhere, no one downloads it. Some people from the forums don't visit the main site or the Talkback thread. If it's annoying, we can drop it.

Wait --- What?!

You're already dismissing it because of what you heard?!

It's a DAMN GOOD GAME NEMO (I have it in my pocket right now)! And until you play it, we shouldn't give a damn about your opinions.

But seriously, I was disappointed as well from the lack of suits (damn you SMB3 for wanting more -- MORE!).

I agree with Requiem.  This game pales to SMB3 and then you look at SMB3 when they remade it and all the e-reader options and like and thinking they could have done just that using online instead.  The game feels like a hurried port in a way.  I just doesn't have the magic of any of the Platformer Marios really.  Not as tight.  Doesn't justify the existance of its new items.  Map becomes a straight affair and doesn't have even a quarter of the different unique styles tht SMB3 or any of the Worlds have, be it the levels or the map.  Gets rid of the Hammer brother suit and replaces it with the not very useful turtle suit.  I mean you should probably play it at some point sort of like everyone should probably see "FF: The Spirits Within"  I just don't think it delivers on the hype.

Now I'm going to listen the the Podcast.

Sorry to get off topic, but I've heard a lot of NSMB bashing lately, and I just don't agree.  The team set out to recreate the feeling of the original Super Mario Bros, and it did so brilliantly.

Comparing it to later games from the Mario series, it may seem incomplete or whatever, but viewing it as an homage to Super Mario Bros, it is outstanding.  And in fact, I think it stands nicely against others in the series, too.  By reducing the game to the basic Mario elements, Nintendo brings the focus back to platforming: you can't just fly over the challenges, and the designers focus on amazing platforming design.

If you go in expecting a sequel to SMW/SMB3, then you'll be disappointed.  If you go in expecting a remake of Super Mario Bros. 1, you'll be very happy.  If you think flying is key to a good Mario game, you'll be disappointed.  Personally, I stopped thinking that flying, Yoshi and suits were what makes Mario games fun a long time ago, but that's not true for everyone, I know.
That's my opinion, not yours.

I agree with couchmonkey; it is an excellent game for what it is. They focused more on pure platforming than anything else. By doing so, the controls have to be tight, and I have no idea why anyone would say that they aren't..

What the hell?!

How can you agree and oppose my stance at the same time?

NSMB isn't "FF: The Spirits Within." How dare you say that. It's actually good; damn good in fact. Actually, I'm addicted to it (and it's mini-games). Nothing hurries time better then a quick level or too.

It's almost like I don't find the time to play, time finds me. It's that good.

Also, I HATE comparing games to other games, even if it's the same lineage. The reason is because iot automatically makes you jaded. People need to learn to just take the game for what it is. Try to have an open mind and simulate the feelings you would of had if it were your first videogame you've ever played. That's how games should be judged; on their own attritubes and not that of any other.

Okay not comparing it to other games.  I found the mega-mushroom more of a hinderance then a help.  Frustrated that I couldn't figure out how to get fireworks.  Enjoyed the mushrooms until those funny bouncy ones.  Hoped for more variety in the mid level bosses but there wasn't really any.  Sort of disappointed by that.  Hate the following fishies died so many times because of them.  Thought that there could have been more unique characters per world.  Frustrated I still only found out how to get to 1 canon and haven't gotten to the 2 other worlds.  Mini and Fire Mario Rock.  Turtle Mario,  I rather have fire Mario.  The Star makes you spin.  It was mean to fry Bowser at the beginning and show his bones.  I still haven't triple jumped.  The music was ok.  Color is nice.  Gotta love flag poles.  I wish there was a way to save after beating a level.  Thinking about it with no comparance or name recognition.  I say it was a good game but not great.

You can read the above if you want.  It's my brainstorming on the game without comparing are taking any other in series in account.  I'll just say it was good game in general just not with the lineage it has.  Megaman games after about 3 or 4 and X games after 2 I also put in this boat.
