The last good Sega game I played was F-Zero.

Everything after that, with the possible exception of SMB2, was total, utter crap.

I have ZERO faith in Sega to create anything worthwhile. As a child, I worshiped Sonic like a god but now that Sega has seen it fit to whore him out to every goddamn console ever dreamt (even the ill-fated N-gage), he's basically dead to me. I bet there was a Sonic game in the planning stages for the Phantom.

Seriously, f*ck Sega. They have all the business know-how of a drunken hobo and I can't understand why Sammy would effectively buy a sinking ship.

You definitely sound like a fanboy that's been betrayed by his own gods...

Not that I blame you or anything. Sega HAS been sucking hard in the past couple of years.

You can only watch a company you love make so many idiotic mistakes before you have to stop caring.

It's like being in love with a drug addict: if they want to destroy themselves, there's nothing you can do but detach yourself from them emotionally because, in the end, you have no control over their actions.

Yeah, but of course sometimes it's your own unrealistic idolation that you get disillusioned from.

For example, people often claim the same thing to happen with Nintendo. But I've felt that that's because those people are expecting something from Nintendo that they shouldn't expect from Nintendo at all. Sorta like, if your girlfriend/boyfriend wants children and you don't, only bad things can come from wanting those things out of them, or blaming them for what is basically your inability to listen to what they're telling you...

ANYWAYS... I myself wasn't disappointed when Nintendo lost the market lead, I wasn't upset by higher N64 cart prices... the only time I've felt abused by Nintendo was when I felt that they sold-short and demeaned their potential by half-assing a game that I knew they really had it in them to do better. But as my understanding of Nintendo improves, I am less and less worried about them "shooting themselves in the foot," I don't care if they're perenially third-place, I'm actually willing to consider buying another system (whether I can afford it is another matter).

The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

The only thing I expect from Nintendo is my Game and Watch e-cards.

I'm disapointed in you, Nintendo.

Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

But Uncle Bob, those cards are coming back in the form of virtual console downloads!

A DRM'd download is no substitute for physical media w/ art and packaging.

Well, if you're gonna nitpick.

But seriously, all the core gameplay benefits of e-cards AND MORE will be provided by the download service. The only thing we're really losing is the brick-and-mortar collectable trading card game aspect, and the "look at my full album" aspect, and the I-can-use-it-in-ten-years-as long-as-my-GBA, GC, AC game, E-reader work-and-my-cards-aren't-wrinkled aspect.

As much as I want to agree with the "zomg Sega sux" line, I just cant when Sonic Rush exists. Of course, after the game was well recieved they just HAD to screw people somehow, hence the absolute abortion that is Sonic Rivals PSP.

Sega doesn't "sux" they just have some serious problems.

They are too willing to let their product be dictated by current trends (Shadow the Hedgehog).
They aren't the best business-minded company (Constant Genesis add-ons, The pitiful launch of the Saturn).
Their current "transitional period" that has lasted for almost 5 years (poorly executed ports to third party systems).
Their design teams are constantly restructuring (the abolishment of 4 teams)
The loss of their product's "soul" (you could always tell a Sega game by its art style, but now they are becoming increasingly generic).
