You know something we don't?

What this confirms is that there are still many hardware secrets left to be unveiled.

This also proves that all hardware and software at E3 were NOT final, meaning that any problems, bugs and glitches that surfaced during the demos are likely to get fixed.

So there's still hope for Zelda TP Wii, Evan

Um their not really gamecube, IWATA took and placed a "facehuger" (read: put more ram inside) in the cube and now they're wii(dev-kit) inside of the cube shell and soon wii brust out of the cube(read: get replace by real wii) and then bring forth a revolution!!!

Yes, but it deserves its own thread.

This explains why there was a clear graphical difference between Red Steel on Ubi's demo and RS on the floor (or they're doctoring it).

Well not quite, its an upgraded GC, but still weaker than what the final Wii hardware will be.

Yea and no, don't expect a massive leap, but expect an improvement, not only in graphics, but also in hardware quality, as in fewer bugs and glitches.

Just because some crazy pics show things that look like gamecubes doesn't mean they went to the store and picked up some GCNs to use at E3. Their guts are likely very close to the final guts of Wii. Don't keep holding on to these odd graphics dreams. With some exceptions, the games were beautiful at E3. I'm so sick of people blindly starting a hype train over this. DON'T EXPECT MARIO GALAXY TO LOOK MUCH DIFFERENT THAN IT DID AT E3! Same goes for Prime.

Personally I beleive the Cube wasn't pushed anywhere near its potential this go around (Including RE4). So I can believe that those where Cubes with more memory but in the end just Cubes. Theres enough accessory ports on the bottom to easily add the needed peripherals.

Of course not! Nintendo would be able to get FREE Gamecubes.

I don't really care if this is true or not. I've pretty much gotten used to the fact that the Wii is a Gamecube 1.5 with a new controller. I'm just hoping that the price reflects that.

Actually, Retro said that one of the prime (sorry) aspects of the game they're working on will be graphics up until launch.

Ahaha. But I agree with Pale...Cube cases are actually larger than Wiis, so there's no reason to think the kits on the show floor were overly underpowered compared to the final versdions.

With that said, the one thing I'm really hoping for is for the graphical gap between first and third party titles to close somewhat. And I think Nintendo has sort-of implied that that will happen (saying that 3rd partiy games won't look as good because they haven't had near-final kits for very long), so, yeah.

There's really no justification for "agreeing" with either side at this point -- so far everything said has been completely and utter guesswork with no apparent factual basis. The wii's graphics could be gamecube * 1.0001, they could be gamecube * 10.

I've already gotten used to the fact that we're dealing with a little more than a GCN...no need to dwell on the graphics issue...

As someone has already stated...I'm more concerned about the price point...and how I'm going to budget to get 4 Wii-Motes (w/ Nunchuks) and 5 games at launch...with everything going WiFi...

Seriously, I can't believe people are about to set themselves up for disappointment AGAIN. There's plenty of evidence that the graphics aren't going to get any better:

1. We've seen some graphics, and they weren't that much of an improvement.
2. Developers have agreed that estimates of 2-3 times as much power are about right. In fact some said 1.5-2 times.
3. Nintendo has stated time and time again that it wants the system to be cheap to develop for - a big part of that is not requiring ever-increasing armies of artists.

Personally, I think the graphics already look better than the GameCube (in most cases). I'd be happy if they improve even more, but I think it would be really optimistic to expect the remaining improvement to be as big as the improvement we've already seen.

Official word.

In a nutshell: Wii hardware in Gamecube cases. It wasn't "Final" hardware, but it was representative.

In the article Nintendo acknowledges that the Wiicubes at E3 were not final hardware, probably similar to Wii Dev kits, and a few places have noted that the ATI GPU hasn't yet been finalized, now i'm not saying the jump will be big, but I think i'd be safe in saying we'll notice a graphical bump come launch.
